Seeing Tremblay behind the bench is … I believe the kids call it “triggering”

  3. thebriss22

Mario Tremblay goes into my top 3 of the most hated man in hockey. The dude started right away fighting with Roy for the dumbest shit, pissed him off, got him traded for a bag of pucks and then Tremblay resigned a year or so later crying his eyes out about the pressure lol

    Fuck Mario Tremblay

  4. 6BLSSDMF6

Fuck Tremblay, this day was day 1 of the habs dynasty of suckage.

  5. Captain_Naps

*”TRADE ME RIGHT FUCKING NOW!”* *^(now hang up)*

  6. realm_fury

That was brutal. I feel like we never really recovered.

The day Mario Tremblay’s small dick energy cursed the Habs for decades

  8. One_Surprise_4066

It’s interesting how a handful of players on the 76-80 dynasty team ruined the Habs after they retired.

  9. FluffyMcFluffen

Not fun fact: Roy called the next day (or couple of days later) to say that he reacted emotionally and would still play for the Canadiens. They traded him anyway

  10. Fuck Mario Tremblay.

He had a good career as a player. But ever since that’s ended, he’s shown his true self. That incredibly arrogant, racist, piece of shit.

Do they just repeat the calendar every couple of season?

  12. sagsfour20

My absolute worst moment as a Habs fan. Roy was the reason I chose this team in 1991. Watching this unfold was horrible.

I will forever despise Mario Tremblay, crippled the franchise, unforgivable!

  14. No one can excuse Houle for his mishandling of this situation. He was the GM. He had the power to force Tremblay and Roy to at least grudgingly work with each other. Hiring Houle was the original sin.

  15. oli_clearwater

Réjean Houle “aka la peanut” & Mario Tremblay destroyed the team. Never enjoyed hockey after this.

  16. Chaxterium

My 13 year old self was devastated. I idolized Roy.

Just think how many more cups we could ve had

  18. pichenet14

Got a text relayed to me today… “tell Dennis to never forget”. Too many Wings fans in my family. 😡

  19. gypsyblader

My birthday is cursed for the Habs I swear. Byron did get a hatty that one year though

  20. whogivesashirtdotca

Wonder when the execs stopped sitting behind the bench? They don’t mingle with the plebs anymore.

While we can all agree Tremblay was God awful as head coach mostly because if his ego, the true villain in this story was Ronald Corey.

Corey didn’t even give Houle the chance to talk to Roy or even shop him around. He specifically told him to call Colorado and that was it.

Years later there were other GMs or coaches that were upset because had they’d known Roy was available, they would’ve made an offer. Scotty Bowman once said that Detroit had offered Federov and Osgood the year prior but the deal fizzled. Bob Pulford, the then GM of the Blackhawks, was ready to trade Ed Belfour and Eric Daze.

Had Roy been shopped around properly, they would’ve gotten the moon for him. Instead this was the beginning of the downfal. The next step was trading Pierre Turgeon for Shayne Corson and Murray Baron.

Tremblay was ass but Houle traded Roy like 5 days later too, no bidding war or talkin to Roy to settle the situation (fire Tremblay). It was some dark times, that shit really hurt us back in the day. Roy even said he was open to stay years later.
