BOSTON — Charlie McAvoy had two assists in his 400th NHL game as the Bruins rallied for a 3-1 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets at TD Garden on Sunday.
Brad Marchand scored a natural hat trick in the third period. Boston entered the final frame trailing 1-0, but Marchand scored three goals in a span of 5:50 to lift Boston to its third win in a row.
“He threw us on his back and said, ‘I’ll take us across the finish line here,’ ” said alternate captain Charlie McAvoy. “He has that capability. He plays with so much passion and energy, playing on a back-to-back and with a little bit of fatigue … I’m so happy for him. He’s Cap. That’s what he does.”
