  1. The same things they said about Steve Yzerman before Bowman got to Detroit and got Yzerman to buy into his system. Defense first makes scoring chances later.

  2. You are 100% correct. Anyone that thinks this is McDavids fault is a clown. Try drafting better players and managing the team to have some depth.

  3. McNuggets had 61 points this year and is only a plus 5. For his career, he had 635 points and is only a plus 69. The stats don't lie

  4. Mark Spector is somewhat correct. Connor is not that great defensively but the real story is his contract and the other poor contracts takes away the Oilers ability to sign quality players to play a proper defensive game. Holland hasn't done a very good job and he will get fired next. Everyone has to play defense for the team to win. Connor sells tickets but don't expect them to win, especially without a good coach and supporting cast. I think Edmonton is pretty much done this year with a rookie coach coming in, but they should be better if Smitty can get back to his wall self. Koskinen wasn't that great nor was the defensive game of the whole team. Same thing with the Canucks if you don't play well in your own zone you are going to get scored on a lot and you won't have the puck to take down the ice and score with. Kinda the way it works.

  5. You gotta let your best players play their game and put the right pieces around them. Did Chicago tell PatrIck Kane to be more defensive No. The oilers need that Seabrook type d-man a Chris Taney maybe a guy like Ben Charot and consistency in net.

  6. would love to see mcdavid join his old erie line mate's (strome and the cat) in chicago when his contract expires. he would look money in a hawks sweater. hawks fans would gladly take mcjesus if edmonton ever gets tired of him.

  7. Zadina to the Oilers? He’s a great two way player and the wings need picks and the Oilers have some great players that Yzerman can Fleece Senile Holland for. If you have an offensive stat LET HIM PLAY OFFENSE. I don’t give a flying frick if he doesn’t play Defense at all when he doesn’t have the puck if you put up 2+ points a night, I don’t care what you do. Zadina for whatever Yzerman wants for the most part will be a even trade. If it’s not even it Benefits us.

  8. Crosby wasn't the face of NHL for his defensive qualities but he won his cups thanks to it. And no he isn't bergeron but he is giving 100% on both ends every game and that is something McDavid doesn't do

  9. Well first of all McKinnon is paid to score! But it's his choice if he wants to back check and help out his team. He's paid to win faceoffs too. They are paid to win and to do everything they can to win. Not just in one aspect of of the game. You sir are the problem, a writer is just doing his job spreading his inside opinion of mcdavid

  10. Spec is bang on the $$$$$$$…time for Mcdavid..Leon and Darnell to prevent some goals..back-check and actually play without the puck..like the big boys do.

  11. He’s not the reason but he does need to improve his 2 way game. They, not just him, need to be coming back and supporting defence in that lane.

  12. The truth is worse than that. When do we get to the point when we start to say that McDavid was a prolific scorer (one of the greatest of all time) but not a winner and not a leader? He's just miscast as a leader and MVP. Before you say what about Ovi, Ovi is not in the same group because Washington never had trouble making the playoffs. Ovi was able to lift the sad sack capitals to the playoffs for many many years even before they won it all. It's hard to win it all, but McDavid can't even get his team to the playoffs. McD is more like Pat Lafontaine or Joe Thornton. Offensive phenoms but not an all-time greats in the realm of Gretzky, Lemieux, Crosby etc. True Connor McDavid doesn't need to worry about defence, which is why he doesn't play it. But at the same time, Connor McDavid also doesn't have to worry about winning a cup.

  13. McD is a defensive liability because Nurse is a defensive liability. Leon is better 2-way but McD can and does play 2way but Dave had hin playing 25min a game.

  14. I say its the defence« the goaler, also the team that is coming to play as told by the writers, critics and castors every day " he's the best in the league", they also come ready to play the best hockey they can against the "best" as they say, gotta take it all or nothing…. Lol.

  15. When your burning rubber in the offensive zone all the time you don't have the energy to play defense as well as you could. When you get as much ice time as McDavid you can't brush off defense unlike the much deeper Tampa Bay team. He doesn't have the luxury like those TB forwards. He can't be the face of the NHL getting swept four straight in the playoffs and then blame it on Ethan Bear when McD makes lazy defensive plays. Obviously they need a deeper team and goaltending but if McDavid is truly the best player in the game he can't be that one dimensional. It only took one bad season for Quinn Hughes to learn his lesson that you can't burn yourself out in the offensive zone.

  16. Personally I don’t think he’s as great of a leader compared to a guy like Crosby or ovi. I feel like he’s tight with guys like drai and nurse but other guys not so close. Personally I think that factors in

  17. Yeah except Marc Marc Spector is a joke. And McDavids advanced stats – grade A contributions that lead to goals VS mistakes that lead to goals against, he's NUMBER 1 IN THE NHL OVER THE PAST 7 YEARS. Thus he is easily the NHL's best player.
How about know wtf you're talking about maybe 😉

  18. Problem with McDavid is he's not going to get mad at his team for not trying…
A guy like M Jordan didn't make friends on his team because he demanded everyone rise to the next level.
He would literally yell at them like he was a coach..
This passion to win isn't in McDavid. He won't be the jerk.

  19. Well said lego..oilers need a coach that can handle the offensive ability of the oilers an get them firing on all cylinders
