Last night as the Philadelphia Flyers hosted the Columbus Blue Jackets, welcoming back Ivan Provorov in his first return back, we saw a heavy weight bout between two big boys Nicolas Deslauriers and Mathieu Olivier. It was a spirited tilt no doubt with the two throwing haymakers for a full minute. It was the end that I loved though, as they two agreed to call the fight and embrace each other in what was an incredible and somewhat hilarious way to end a scrap. Notably, Patrik Laine was also a healthy scratch in this one… I cover it all in todays NHL hockey video!

I think it’s admirable to shake somebody’s hand at the end of an MMA fight. Because that’s the sole reason for the contest.
However, fights breakout in hockey, because one player specifically disrespected the other team. I don’t see a handshake as being appropriate

Anyone who thinks fighting in hockey is stupid and shouldn't be allowed should watch that fight!? Anyone who wants fighting out of hockey doesn't understand hockey and y fighting is allowed and y the players do it!!? Anyone who knows and understands hockey knows u can't take fighting out of hockey! The fighting isn't really about trying to beat the crap out of the other guy, it's about showing that u and ur team aren't afraid to stand up for yourselves and ur not guna tolerate any cheap crap!? And usually fighting won't happen if the refs control the game right and don't let guys get away with stuff and have it get out of hand!?

I thought these two big guys were going to scrap longer. Fighting with Helmets with visors seems to be the norm. NO take down to the ground either. I like the ending were they gave each other a tap on the helmet.
Part of me wonders whether Torts is going to do the same thing that he did with the blue jackets with the Fliers
