GAME RECAP: Penguins at Flyers (12.04.23) | Crosby Has Most Points Against Flyers In NHL History

Rounding out the second half of the home and home with the Philadelphia Flyers, the Pittsburgh Penguins traveled cross-state for a Monday night rematch. Both teams remained off the scoreboard for the majority of the 1st until the last minute. Bryan Rust broke the puck out of the defensive zone to Jake Guentzel. On a 2-on-1 with Sidney Crosby, Guentzel gave a saucer pass over the Flyers’ stick and Crosby finished the play to give Pittsburgh the lead heading into the 2nd period. This goal broke the tie with Mario Lemieux for most points against the Flyers in NHL history with 125 points. Halfway through the 2nd, the Flyers tied the game. Heading into the 3rd even, both teams came out looking to win. Generating chance after chance and both goalies standing tall. Just like the previous game, extra hockey was needed to determine a winner. With a minute left, the Flyers became the victor with a final score of 2-1.

  1. imagine icing crosby, malkin, guentzel, letang, karlsson, and rust and getting beat in back to back games against… checks notes… couturier and konecny.

  2. As much as I love Sullivan and appreciate all he’s done for pittsburgh, his time is running thin.
