Barzal has the most takeaways this season of any player at 34, but also the 3rd highest in giveaways at 30.

  1. Giveaways should be measured per 60 cause this mf has the puck more then anyone in the nhl it seems

  2. Giveaways don’t mean anything when you have the puck that much it’s expected to have some

you expect elite players/high possession players to have a lot of giveaways; look at the top giveaway guys last year, you have to get to the 8th guy on the list before you find somebody that hasn’t made an all-NHL team

the ratio is much more important, imo…most of the top giveaway guys have a negative ratio there, for goodness sake’s Barzy already has almost as many takeaways as Panarin had all last year, to go against 100+ giveaways…you have to get to 7th on the list (Marner) before you get somebody who had more takeaways than giveaways

idc if Barzy has 100 giveaways this year, if he has 101 takeaways i’m cool

edit: just an FYI, Barzal has never had a positive GV/TK ratio in his career, and the closest he’s ever been was his rookie year when he wasn’t facing the top defensive lineups every shift

The Barzal taketh and the Barzal giveth away

  5. Giveaway/takeaways are meaningless stats that are extremely biased against good offensive players. Scott Mayfield isn’t credited with a giveaway every time he sends a puck off the glass out of the zone to nobody
