Duchene, Turris and Futures Exchanged in Major Trade

Colorado gets seven parts back for Matt Duchene. This does leave a hole in the Avs’ top six and may solidify the Preds as Cup contenders once again.

  1. Ottawa really lost this Duchene for turris, first ,third and some prospects… keep in mind that turris in My opinion is better than Duchene so If they just swapped them to Ottawa still lost

  2. This won't be apparently good or bad for a while. But I can say as an Avs fan that this feels weird, he was my favorite player. I hope Matt does well in Ottowa. Get those hands back and have some fun bro!

  3. Can you please re-analyse it now that the details are out? I feel like Ottawa got robbed by giving up a first rounder and a first round prospect, Nashville gave up nothing in comparison!!

  4. At least now Duchene will get a chance to play with an elite Dman. Quite an upgrade from Beauchemin.

  5. Considering Turris wasnt going to resign, I think Ottawa didnt give up too much. Especially since the first rounder they gave up wont be a top 5 or 10

  6. Colorado won long term. Ottawa seemed to give up a lot of extra assets to replace one 6 million dollar centre for another with slightly better offensive upside.

  7. How did he know it was a done deal thought the deal happend mid game last night during avs game when Duchenevwalked out

  8. Ottawa wants Duchene. Makes sense to me. Ottawa trades away Turris to get Duchene. Doesn't makes sense to me.

Seeing this trade, I have no idea why the Penguins were ever mentioned as a possible landing spot for him. What was Rutherford offering? Malkin for Duchene? LOL

  9. So did Turris ask Ottawa for more money than he did from the Preds? Which kind of makes sense since Canada's tax I am pretty sure is more than American cities taxes. Or were they really that against giving him 6+ years? This was a great deal for Colorado, which I honestly thought was not gonna be the case. Preds got a Duchene level player for much cheaper than what Ottawa paid for Duchene. Lol.

  10. Ottawa gives up Turris and 1st & 3rd round 2018 for Duchene. Kudos for Colorado and Nashville but seriously – what the heck Ottawa!?!

  11. This is the first of your videos I've come across.
I like your style. Not crazy and inflamatory, just reporting with a splash of opinion for taste.
    Very good. Thanks.
    Best,
    Bob

  12. Ottawa gave up way to much. Their 1st round pick from this year and the 1st rd pick in 2018 wtf is that. Hammond is also a good pick up for the avs considering the fact that their back up is Bernier. Nashville clearly wins this trade short to mid term and the Avs could be the big winners of this one in a few years from now if all the players they get develop well.

  13. Imagine if duchene Doesn't sign next year with Ottawa and turris has already signed with Nashville and all those players and picks have been traded away by Ottawa and they only get duchene for one season if you look at the numbers turris actually has better numbers then duchene and a better corsi for so don't really think it was worth it for Ottawa. looks like Nashville made the smart move in this Especially making sure they had turris locked up before the trade was done. I like Ottawa so hope it works out in the end and hope duchene signs ext

  14. hey Shannon please give me your opinion on this. I live in Boston area my whole life I'm huge bruins fan and I no u r 1 as well next to Van. we got pastrnak n McAvoy. and I don't feel we can win now at this point. if I was Sweeney I feel I would get rid of guys like bergeron, krejci, Chara, backes and other vets. I love bergeron I mean who doesn't but do u feel we should trade vets while there is still value there since there is just so much amazing young talent out there. I think there's sum teams who would love a guy like Bergeron who want to win now and get some guys who r just young enough to be there when guys like pastrnak McAvoy and our you get guys hit their prime. how would u be thinking if u were Sweeney. I would love ur opinion on this more then anybody in the world man, thank you.

  15. What Avs asked last year in exchange of Duchene:

    – Cody Ceci
    – Chabot or White
    – First round pick.

How the trade went this time:

    OTT: Matt Duchene
    NSH: Kyle Turris
COL: 1st-round pick, 3rd-round pick, C Shane Bowers, G Andrew Hammond (from Ottawa), 2nd-round pick, D Samuel Girard, LW Vladislav Kamenev (from Nashville)

Quick answer on why the deal actually went on:

    – Turris was offered a short term contract, instead he asked for long-term therefore Ottawa wouldn't proceed with the signing, which would have led Turris going into free-agency.
    – Why did OTT trade their picks? So they don't lose Chabot, White or Brown.
    – Duchene wanted to GTFO of Avs real good

  16. Bra-fuckin-vo Sakic… I remember not that long ago people were telling Sakic to cut his losses and some other people wanting his head for not making a quick deal

  17. Girard was really good this past season. I actually like him more than Chabot right now. Sakic did great in this trade, and even if the Avs fall back next season, they will be all set with the Sens 1st rounder.

  18. Looking back today I really feel like this is what lead the lead to win the cup this year. Obviously Joe made a ton of other moves to improve our roster but I feel like this is where things trended in the right direction
