Yeah, things are grim, but what about Alex Nedeljkovic, Tristan Jarry?

Loved the Ned move when it happened… still love it. Reliable as can be.
O,connor is looking good on that 2nd line.
It doesnt matter how good one guy is playing if the team is not winning.
It comes down to the turnover’s
I joked with my son last night, if was playing the pens and had a one goal lead with two minutes left I'd take a penalty to ensure the win. Hell, in the last 10 games they've had more short handed goals scored against them then they have on the power play. I've got their power play all figured out. They pass the puck about 27 times and then shoot wide or high. Maybe , when they're on the power play they should play 4 on 4 and leave a defenceman back at centre ice to protect against the short handed breakaway. I know, maybe they should move Jarry up on the power play, I mean he the can hit the net from 195 feet away.
ned was very good last night i didnt see a flaw.
What can Sully be thinking?! A top professional coach recognizes a problem and solves it. What is he doing?!
Ned was Solid as a rock! Power is play is unforgivable at this point.
This team is playing with one line. No contributions from the bottom 3 lines.
That game could have been 7-1 easily. So many breakaways and odd man rushes.
I think the goaltending has been UNBELIEVABLE. I think defensive effort on an individual level is really good too. I think the biggest negative to this team and I know its already been mentioned…..age. they arent a team that can turn something quick and flip the ice in 5 seconds anymore. And thats most of the league. Young and fast and quick hitters. Not tactician. How do I know that its true??? They needed 6 players on the ice late game, and an exhausted flyers defense, to tie the game. They are sooooo talented that if they could tire a team out they might be one of the best teams in the league. Period. But they aren't…and the reason is they are unable to flip the Ice in a lightning fast way like they use to.
P.S. keep Geno and Karlsson off the same powerplay line. Their passing back and forth is driving me insane
All boils down to coaching! There's no other excuse. For the past 5 years, a plethora of players have filtered through the team, but the common is HC Sullivan! It's obvious he's lost the room and maybe more. He's that person who is a victim of his past success! He is sabotaging this team, I believe, with his lack of evolution to the game. Sullivan is staying the course, which equates to L's! This team needs like children need to be directed and shown boundaries! Dubas better pull his head out and get off this Sullivan train!
First thing when i opened my eyes this morning was lets get DKs take on that shit show last night.
This team can not score. They have somehow lost the ability over these last 2-3 years to shoot on an nhl goaltender. Every single shot continues to be low unscreened shots into the goalies pads and chest, over and over and over again. No one goes to the net, no one screens the goalie, and every single breakaway and odd man rush is either a bad five hole attempt, or they just can’t complete the pass cuz the puck bounced off the stick. They are playing a speed and skill game from 2016 and 2017 that they no longer are able to do. The league has adjusted to those cup winning teams, but Sullivan has not adjusted back. I see it game after game after game, but nothing changes. It doesn’t matter who’s in the lineup, what players are in the bottom 6, cuz no one on this team can consistently elevate picks, stick handle, or screen a goaltender. All of these problems are in our awful power play as well, and it’ll continue next game
In this season of inconsistency, a few things have been consistent:
– Sidney Crosby and the top line
– The PK
– The Goalie has been outstanding
It's a shame that outstanding goaltending is getting wasted because of a poor powerplay that can't figure it out, a drop off from the second line, the bottom not contributing enough.
Why, on a lost draw in OT, are you chasing the puck behind the net? That always leads to an odd man rush! Lose the face-off, drop back, play D and win the puck back! Our goalies, as great as they both have been, can only save us so many times.
This team as it stands is not going to the playoffs. They were pegged to be a bottom seed even if the PP wasn't an issue, but this is just functionally treasonous the way it is going now. Easily looking at 8 if not more points that could have, should have been had if the PP was even semi-productive. They are currently worse off now than they were with Hextall's excrement last season. Dubas will not allow them to miss the playoffs after all the hullaballoo of his hiring, the roster changes that followed it, and the expectations that went along with it, without at least making a coaching change and/or trading a core player very soon. Can't blame him. It's not like they are leaving him with any other options. The patience train left town days ago and the ones who were late to board have no one to blame but themselves.
This weird season brings me back to thinking about Dubus that maybe will have the ability to see past the superficials and track a path forward that gets us back to the top of the heap.
So top line doing there job goales doing there job Dubas this job eveyone else shows up when they feel like it, time to ruffle some feathers, Dubas needs to lay down the law, most are on thin ice coaches players even the zamboni driver no more pouting Sullivan, fix it, If I were Dubas I'd start looking for a new bench staff
Ek65 should move down pp2
Thanks for jinxing them even further Dejan. you pulled the same top tandem thing last season early on with Jarry and DeSmith and how'd that turn out?
“You’ve got to put pucks at the net,” Sullivan said. “You’ve got to have off-net sticks to create different avenues to get pucks to the net. And you’ve got to try to go bang in rebounds. They’re not highlight reel goals.”
Maybe they need to take the highlight goal players off the PP then. That includes Sid. If we're being honest, Sid's never been great on the PP as a scorer. He's not Ovechkin, He's not Mario. He's just a player looking to create chances more than score himself and him being stuck in the corner on the PP just reinforces that. You 've got a guy who can score every way imaginable and yet he's rarely in the a position to do it.
This power play is beyond abysmal. I also don’t think it will “fix itself” even with the names on the first unit. The puck movement in the zone has ZERO pace and Malkin being flat footed and running out of gas 30 seconds into the advantage is only going to continue to get worse. I see no end in sight to this horror show.
You can just see when the Pens are on the power play that there is no momentum. It's like they are dreading going on the man advantage. If you are any other team, why not just keep holding and slashing because you know they can't even get a shot or momentum? When does Dubas make a move, is it something he needs to step in with new coaching for the PP, or players?
Jarry and Ned have been good this season, and that is being wasted. As is Crosby's season at age 36.
Sullivan is well past his expiration date, but Hextall gave him that crazy extension, so that's a lot of money to just pay someone to sit at home. But they can at a minimum change the assistants, at least who is running the power play.
I'm most disappointed in Dubas. I thought he would bring a fresh perspective to a stale franchise, but he has just added to the staleness.
And man, you really can't appreciate just how bad Erik Karlsson is defensively until you watch him every day. And that's the guy Dubas chased all offseason, instead of addressing depth scoring, age and perimeter play.
All of this has been going on since last season. Only the top lines scoring and this god awful PowerPlay. Unbelievable.!!!! Have a safe trip back DK
