Incredible how slow those greens are compared to today's standards. The shot Beck hit into 14 would have rolled 20 fee more to the right. As a PGA Professional that is why the average score hasn't changed still in 30 years because hitting the golf ball is easier, but chipping it and putting it are more difficult as greens speeds are pushing 10 plus on most courses.
Bernhard Langer… What a wonderful to say "On the day of the resurrection of my lord and saviour" AND then a quick cut-off to regular programming . Classic main stream media… No green jacket for you !!!
Chip Beck sealed up any chance he had of winning by showing absolutely zero courage on the second shot at the par 5 15th. That's a Tin Cup situation right there, accept he didn't have the guts to go for it. He's down 3 badly needing an eagle and he laid up.
30 years later Bernard Langer is still boring the world with his weekly golf for no reason on the Champions Tour, while his wife Vicky stays home and wonders why she wasted her life with this guy. Between Bernard Langer and Ernie Els, who is the winner for the one who likes their wife the least? All they do is travel and play golf, while the wives raise the kids and live alone.
I was a junior golfer between 1991-1997. I lived and breathed golf back then. Absolutely loved the BBC Sport coverage of the Masters (and all the other European Tour Events back in the 90's). Remember watching the Masters with my little portable TV and enduring the rain/storm/thunder/lightening delays! Looking back on it – I think the 90's were a golden era of players, courses and coverage. Not the same these days…in my opinion atleast
This was the beginning of a very interesting run of final rounds for Greg Norman. Over the next 4 "final" rounds at the Masters 93, 94, 95, 96, Norman will shoot 12 over. 77, 77, 68, 78.

Payne Stewart always made me smile with his plus fours, chip beck a great name for a golfer.
Why can American commentators not get the right pronunciation of Langer's name, how did they get the job in the first place.
8:19 Cadillac, changing the way you think about automobiles. Travelers, you're better off under the Umbrella.
Only 4 minutes of commercials every hour! Happy days!

I like how the greens were puttable back then. Now they bake em out into concrete and it’s an anxious experience just to watch

Why on earth did Beck lay up at 15 makes no sense at all
Tom Lehman looked like a walking Cadbury dairy milk bar!
Hey Bernhard how much Langer?
2:03:19 "the applause will rise in enthusiasm as he gets nearer to the green"…hmmmm.
At 1:49:25 was the inspiration of the movie Tin Cup

Ken Venturi predicts on 11 Beck will go at the pin and Langer will play to the right on 2nd shot and players do the opposite. LOL>
I love this green Augusta i find this crossing just beautiful

Almost as though The Open Championship doesn't exist, or existed way before there was even a golf course in Augusta.

Langer had putting problems throughout his career and won twice on these greens, talk about determination!
