  1. People act like these NHL players dont know how to play hockey… These guys have the skill and they could be a great team if buffalo had a real coach. These guys are under performing and coming out night after night not ready to play

  2. Don’t worry guys the sabres are bound to win tonight because I have red wings money line on my parlay, I am single-handedly going to turn the team around.

  3. I remember when sabres fans said eichel was the problem, now he’s a cup champion & Buffalo still can’t make the playoffs

  4. The importance of Zemgus should not be understated. Buffalo had the best 4th lines in the game last year. Skinner peterka and middlestat are performing really well. The real problem for Buffalo right now is centermen. With the worst faceoff percentage in the league and inexperienced centermen to control the middle of the ice they will suffer.

  5. I’ve watched every game and have pin pointed what I feel are the main problems with the team. The numbers shown here don’t lie but I think there is more to it than the numbers alone.
    1) they don’t attack the net or slot in the ozone. They play on the perimeter all night where they are very easy to defend against and goalies can see every shot. They are way too soft. Teams have scouted what worked for the Sabres last year and this year they are shutting them down.
    2) they don’t defend in front of the net well. They let players skate right in for high-quality scoring chances in front of the net or easy rebounds. They don’t box players out or tie them up. Again too soft, and this is on the forwards not helping too. All the best defensive teams like Boston, Rangers, Vegas defend in front of the net very well. I think this is way more of an issue for the Sabres than goaltending. You can’t expect any goalie to be superhuman when you give up high quality scoring chances in front of the net like the Sabres do.

I feel that the issue is coaching. The Sabres already have the roster to be a winning team. My fellow Sabres fans may disagree with me, but I’m fine with what Kevyn Adams did for this season. I hope he makes some trades soon but I’m willing to suffer for a little longer for the long-term plan. Go Sabres.

  6. I really thought Thompson would take off with Tuch and Skinner this year and easily hit 110 points. Obviously hurt, but thought in the 18 he played he would have much more though.

  7. Last season Vejmelka single-handedly dashed Arizonas chances of drafting Bedard. He had value, and the coyotes were rebuilding, and accumulating draft picks.

Buffalo needed a goaltender and had assets to trade. They wanted to win more games and make the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Coyotes were definitely in the Bedard sweepstakes. I am so mad that trade didn’t happen. Being a fan of both teams, I don’t think I can ever forgive Kevyn Adams for this.

  8. prices of tickets have risen sharply over the year, resulting in empty seats. during a time when inflation is at an all time high.

  9. The only issue Adams addressed in the past offseason was physical play. He added Johnson (36 in March) and Clifton (leads w/ 53 hits, also in PIM’s by a mile) (Samuelsson has 50 hits, 1/3rd of Clifton’s PIM’s)

So not much help, there. And knowing he’ll be desperate, trades will be difficult to pull off (and the enthusiasm Tuch/Krebs brought is g-g-gawn; good luck finding players motivated to want to be in Buffalo)

If no changes are made behind the bench, and injuries keep happening and keeping key players out for stretches (Tuch joins Greenway, Quinn) no WAY is Buffalo a Playoff team. We saw they barely had a chance w/ zero injuries; too small, still too young, and UPL playing the best in net equals another close call, AT BEST.

  10. Its not looking good.. I mean they lack in the offence they lack in defence but they have young players. Next season the maybe could be contending about a PO spot. This year they should tank for a draft pick.

  11. Loved watching them last year – they were a fun team, who was never really out of a game. Such a disappointment this year. They're lethargic and underwhelming.

  12. I’m going to the Bruins game Thursday!! My second game and my second time seeing the Sabre’s. Hoping Bruins win this time!

  13. Its bad GMin and team building IMO. Its sucks to say but I can already tell you Buff will need another rebuild: When their goalies hit their Prime their star forwards will be moving on.
This team not only won't make the playoffs, it'll be split apart and rebuilt before it ever does. You need goal-tending NOW. Your two best goalies still need time to develop. It just doesn't work.
They had the cap space to bring in A goalies this summer. They didn't. They decided Levi's like.. 7 or 8 games?… Was enough to base the future of the organization on… Terrible decision.

Now, how long does this last? To get help in net NOW, they would probably have to offer Levi or PUL… Which i would personally do in a heartbeat because once you get Thompson, Cozens and Dalhin to the point were Eichel was, team's done. Dalhin already looks like hes had enough. This is how you end up with team no one wants to go to: the skill is there but the house is built upside down. And it might already be too late, you find one magical goalie to fix all your issues. You need to go back in time and evaluate your assets better.

  14. I had such high hopes this year was going to be the year we get to the playoffs….I'm absolutely gutted right now. So sick of the losing. Been a fan for almost 30 years but feeling pretty beat up right now.

  15. I feel like I called this before the season started and I got demolished by everyone in the comment section… but whatever.

  16. 6 teams ahead of them atm in the atlantic. to secure a spot in the top 3 for the playoffs, they gotta pass 3 teams.
Montreal should be easy to pass but the other 5 not so sure. Toronto and Tampa did struggle this year so far so the sabres got that going for them.
otherwise, it's the wildcard race. but they got to pass 5 teams with .500 records or better. and there's ottawa, 4 points behind but with 6 more games to play.

knowing buffalo's history tho, they just got no chance.

  17. It's not too late to make the playoffs, if they play super manic hockey. But I do not feel that is a realistic expectation.

  18. Thanks for the coverage. I'm fairly patient with the team, but like you said at least last year's games were high scoring and exciting to watch. Dahlin has been stellar and his development is encouraging. There are still things to look forward to as a Sabres fan.

  19. The Buffaslug Jerseys were always my fave ones they had. I'm not even a buffalo fan, but those Vanek, Briere, Miller, Roy, Pomminville Years in those jerseys were fun to watch as a fan. Goathead Jerseys are a close 2nd though.

  20. Yeah, it's to late. They just aren't very good. Also time to reevaluate that Tuch/Krebs for Eichel trade. At the time looked like Buf got the better of Vegas and won that trade. Look at it now and Vegas got the missing piece they needed to raise the Cup (maybe more than once, we'll see) and Buf got a player who is always hurt and Krebs who does next to nothing game to game.

  21. I think they really needed to secure a Kane type player, someone who was/is really good and has been there done that and will keep a calm head and show the young guys how to handle yourself as a pro, keep things in check.

  22. I hope to God they don’t use tonight’s result as Exhibit A as a reason to NOT make serious changes.

Detroit started taking stupid high-stick calls late in the 2nd and all through the 3rd. AND they got away from the kind of play that created a 4-0 lead. Buffalo was NEVER in this, if Detroit didn’t start effing up.

  23. Buwahahahah all we heard was how the sabers and senators were gonna be so much better than Detroit. Buwahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahha

  24. The Sabres need a coach that they’re terrified to go back to the locker room to when they lose by pile of goals. Granato is not that guy. He was great for developing a lot of the young talent that this team has, but now we need a red-in-the-face type of coach.

  25. Just want to watch games expecting them to win, feels like another few years before they can do that. Unfortunately I’ll probably keep wasting time on them until then.

  26. Sabres are like the second team I kind of cheer for, but they are just too unconsistent. I don't see them making it this year. Unfortunately.
