I had one thought about the Flyers winning. If they can keep this winning going, maybe they CAN make the playoffs. Losing in the first round gets them experience. Next season Cutter Gauthier and maybe one or two others can help take them another round in. And finally when Michkov arrives they'll be ready to win it all. I know. Just some wishful thinking.
Colorado should certainly be a good test to see just how good the Flyers are. We beat Edmonton and so we thought that was a big win, but then a lot of teams were beating Edmonton.
They're not going to win enough to be a serious playoff contender. But it will build confidence, avoid those 'fold' games where a 1 goal deficit quickly became down 4. Along the way, the front office will see which players have the 'heart & resolve' to tough out the bad times / build for the future good times.
I went to see Barkey and Bonk in Sudbury last week. They only come to town once so wanted to check them out. Sudbury won 9-2 and both Barkey and Bonk were benched for the third. Lol.
Not a great game to check them out. But was only one game.
Hoping that team Canada doesn’t hold any part of camp in Sudbury for their sake. 😜.

I believe that they are building a system and culture of winning and playing hard. And that’s perfect because yes…there may be players on the team now that don’t look to be part of the future but who cares…. There are young players in the lineup that are getting the benefit of over achieving right now because that system/culture has been implemented. That’s only going to make the team stronger in the long run…more so than hoping for a top 5 pick to turn everything around.
Success always beats a plan to succeed.
I'm not thrilled about us in regards to draft position, but I will never tell them to not try to win games.
I'm good with winning as long as Briere doesn't lose sight of the need to rebuild. He needs to sell at the deadline. Staal has to go. Get a big haul for Konecny. Walker and Laughton, too. Hopefully someone wants the "toughness" of Deslauriers. I really worry that Briere could be tempted to be a buyer. You know Tortorella will be pushing for the playoffs and will want to add. Bring up the whole LV first line of Lycksell, Laczynski and Tuuomala and give them a run. Get Zamula back in the lineup and hopefully Andrae back before the end of the year. Hoping for a Cutter Gauthier cameo at the end of the Flyer season after the BC season finishes up.
I do think the Flyers' competitiveness will help market their tradeable assets. Konecny could be the top guy available at the deadline.
Totally agreed if you are winning now it better be with the players that will be here in the future or else its stupid and counterproductive!!! And there is a BIG difference between a top 10 pick than a Mid rd pick because a top 10 pick gives you a better shot at having a top line player as opposed to a 2nd or 3rd round player!!!
