Ducks and RFA Chaos

We know this summer there was no RFA movement. Players were stuck with their team. Part of this is unlike UFA teams losing a RFA are compensated with draft picks from the acquiring team. The higher the contract value the more draft picks must be given, and it’s
A strict set of rules from which round AND most interesting is they have to be your picks. Let’s say you owe the team a third round pick in next years draft, it can’t be let’s say the Sharks pick even though that is going to be a better pick. Sorry to those that know this.
What is interesting is according to Cap Friendly the Ducks own everyone of their picks for all seven rounds for each of the next three seasons.
The Ducks can offer any RFA and cause teams to either match or lose the player.
The Maple Leafs have already traded away picks, so for instance they can’t send offers to RFA.

So the Ducks could offer the Kings prized Quinton Byfield $10M. Over market value. So the Kings either spend cap space they could use for other players or lose him to their arch rival. Chaos.
