  1. When they interviewed him, wasnt he living and cooking for himself at 16 to stay in competitive hockey? It’s one of the reasons we picked him up because he seemed really responsible considering his age.

When he’s 40 or 50 he’ll be too busy to look back on his career, since he’ll be president of Slovakia.

  3. Honest to God, this dude is already my favorite player. I remember cheering like a lunatic when they drafted him. He’s easily my favorite player to single out and watch game in and game out. I was at the Kraken game and he was really impressive. I love that Marty is coaching this dude up. He’s gonna be a special player and the haters are gonna end up looking very goofy

His hockey IQ and decisions with and without the puck are already fairly advanced for a player his age. Seeing that coupled with his dashes up the ice the last game you can see why this kid was taken 1st overall. Not too many players his size look as fluid as he does out there. He’s going to be an excellent 2 way player who puts up 80-90 points a year consistently while also being an absolute nightmare to deal with for opposing d-men.

People love to compare Cooley with him, sure Cooley is putting up points now but he doesn’t have as many dimensions to his game compared to Slaf. People just need to be patient. Without a doubt we made the right selection.

  5. If Slaf becomes a successful player, i believe it will be in big part because of St-Louis’s handling of his game

His reaction after the draft was also really mature

    > “Hockey’s their passion as well as mine. Maybe some of them didn’t like me, but I will do everything that I will play good for this team and that they will actually maybe like me one day.”

    We like him I think!

Very likable kid. I hope he has an awesome career. Go Juraj!

Just the way he presents himself shows why he’s the right guy for Montreal. Many players would have an underwhelming first 50-60 games and then see themselves as not fit for the NHL, his attitude indicates he has a healthy view of himself and the path ahead. Mindset is the biggest factor in success if you’ve already got the tools (which he does).
