Jack Hughes is out Week To Week with his injury. The night before Elliott Friedman said that Hughes avoids any substantial injury, but the NJ Devils confirmed prior to the Blackhawks game the time were looking for with Hughes being out. In his absence The Devils called up Max Willman who was very noticeable in the Devils 4-2 win.
The Devils fell behind 1-0 on a Taylor Hall goal where he was left wide open to the side of Vitek Vanecek. Then on the power play Dawson Mercer scored his first goal and first point of the season. Later Max Willman took the puck, skated down the ice and scored. Willman definitely made in impact in last night’s game. Curtis Lazar put the Devils ahead 3-1. Donato alone in front banged in his own rebound to pull the Blackhawks within one, but Michael Mcleod scores an Empty net goal to get the victory for the Devils.
With Hughes & Hischier out for some time, the Devils are going to need players to step up and make an impact if we’re going to still be competitive.

Agreed, It was nice to Mercer score and Wilman played a really good game. In a long season with injuries popping up from time to time you are going to contributions from your extra depth forwards. Also fans have been hard on Smith and yes he’s struggled a lot but I thought he played a nice game last night too.
Happy to see the effort and energy of the team last night. Probably the best defensive game the team has played this season. Power play still insane even without Nico and Jack. Lets Go Devils!
Good win! Vanacek was awesome. We need Mercer ,, Bratt Timo to heat it up I thought it looked like Hughes was grabbing his arms and I saw his head jerk, just like Nico. They need to make the neck brace part of the uniform ❤❤❤
It is a positive that the team doesn’t have Jack to quarterback the offense because now they need to rely on each other. Players now have to step up and that can have a positive impact on scoring points. A big relief to see Mercer score. Hopefully he goes on a tear now.
I do think Avs will be a challenge. If anything, I think it’s a good time to see how everyone gels. Timo might need some more ability to lead the charge. Maybe this could actually help distribute the talent across the lines in more complimentary ways. For example, i think holtz has been great on the 4th line to get goin and McLeod has really been a Swiss Army knife while the real Swiss king is out

I thought they played well in Chicago. Several guys stepped up and contributed. Lazar quickly becoming valuable and love his hustle. Gotta be thrilled for Max Willman too!

I predict that Hischier will return right before Thanksgiving. I also predict that Jack Hughes will return in early to mid December.
I HATE NHL injury updates!!!!! Anyway, this is a great devs team. The guys who need to will step up (even tho Meier is snakebit). Deep teams can survive until they get healthy. Just don’t expect 52 wins this year
someone better be an enforcer…jack is a superstar and we have other starts that need backup,….example the hit on nico…DOUGIE GO GRAB SOMEONE…..i love my devils but show some toughness
