Just throwing it out there… I really want to see Zary at center for a game or two soon. He is so smart, he makes the right play defensively all the time and has sublime playmaking ability. Hell, he even showed great hand eye the other night. His hockey IQ is off the charts. All of these things are vital for a center in the NHL in my opinion.
I know they aren’t going to move Lindholm, Kadri or Backlund to the wing so it’s kind of foolish to hope, but maybe once they move Elias we get to see Zary play his natural position. What’s your thoughts?

Couldn’t find a better quality pic, eh?
Yes, he should absolutely move to centre at some point, especially since that’s his natural position. But it won’t happen unless there’s an injury or until Lindholm is traded.
I think it’s going to happen eventually but he apparently played a lot of LW in the AHL so I’ll let it slide for now.
I’m fine to let him play wing for now. Less responsibilities to focus on, let him worry about creating. Our center position is also much stringer then our wingers right now.
I would assume if and when Lindholm gets dealt he gets moved to center for the back half of the season. If he plays center as well as he does left wing it’s gonna be a good time in Flames land.
As others have said, a roster spot would need to open. Huska made it clear in training camp zary would not play C with us if it kept him in the bottom 6. That’s why he changed to wing to start the year with the wranglers, we don’t currently have room at C.
Zary between Scoranato and Popsicle, lets go.
