The Vancouver Canucks Can’t Go Wrong W/ The 2019 NHL Draft – Reminiscing On 2018 Draft Prospects

In my opinion, the Vancouver Canucks have so much going for them in this year’s NHL Entry Draft. It’s a big contrast to last year. Here’s a short commentary about my personal securities about how the Canucks will do in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.

  1. Honestly Vancouver is so set up for the future now, taking a pick that might take longer to develop won’t be too bad. If that means waiting longer for someone for them to develop better over time that’s fine in my opinion. Boldy I would say is the best fit thus far due to lacking on the wings for the 2nd line and down

  2. a lot of the previous draft(s) anxiety came out of desperation. Vancouver was in a position where they NEEDED a good pick. they NEEDED Core players in specific positions. Thankfully the team has addressed those needs to point where drafting just a "solid" player to compliment the others is just fine, now.

  3. I think our team is already small and light. We need some guys that have size and skill. We'll get mowed down by the stronger teams if we keep picking pipsqueaks.

  4. wheres Caufield gonna go? I want NJ to trade a few 2nds and a 3rd plus Mcleod for him because Hughes and Caufield as we know have crazy chemistry but idk where hes gonna go

  5. I bet the Hawks take Podkolzin at 3 after talking with them. After all they brought Panarin over and have a few Russians in the system as prospects and Anisimov. Though I would be happy with anyone out of Cozens, Turcotte, or Byram but please no Dach.

  6. I totally agree with you, our scouting has been quite good in the last two drafts. We’re in a good position to pick one of boldy zegras krebs soderstrom or newhook all of which I like

  7. What is your issue with Podkolzin?? Every nhl mock draft from professional scouts have him #3 or #4. But mostly #3. Idk what the issue is

  8. We have a trade to announce "New Jersey" trades their 1st pick, foward nico hischer to the "Vancouver Canucks" for Richard Bachman And their 2023 1st round pick

  9. Trade Hutton the 10th pick and Kole Lind to Colorado and take Byram with the 4th

  10. Very much agree with this. Unlike last year, much less anxiety. Little chance they mess this up. There's lots of good options within our range. I am hoping they draft either Turcotte, Boldy, Soderstrom or Zegras.

  11. I know at the start of the year you made a “why I want” video on dach and I commented on it about how I skeptical about him since I live in Saskatoon and saw him play a lot. Well after seeing him play towards the end of the year and watching every home playoff game I saw him transform into this beast of a player that would dance through the entire opposing team and get a quality chance then skate hard and get back defensively. His game improved so much over this year and I’m no longer skeptical of the Canucks picking him he has the work ethic and the talent level to be a great player in the NHL. I honestly think is one of the better picks for the Canucks as well unfortunately I doubt he’ll be on the board at 10

  12. It’s kind of a Russian roulette… lots of promising studs, but who’s the bust out of them?

  13. Nobody had Vancouver taking Hughes in mock drafts because he wasn't supposed to be available! Like doing Why I Wants for this year's Hughes or Kaapo, it's just not a consideration.

There's a huge number of "third tier" prospects this draft, and I could see arguments being made for (and against) any of a dozen players going tenth. Heck, I wouldn't be shocked if they took Lavoie or Leason despite being frequently ranked in the mid-20s, though they are more of an outside chance than a likely one.

  14. Love to hear Nucks scout Thomas Gradin's (honest) opinions about some of the Euros … Soderstrom, Broberg, Heinola & Seider, etc. He was right on with Pettersson.

  15. Now your talking my language, flyers are in the same boat at #11, Caufield,Boldy,Krevs, now I like Alex Newhook, tore up playoffs now u18s

  16. But if your watch the U18 torn. besides the 3-4 Americans, I think team Canada's best players have been Krebs,Newhook, stats say the same

  17. Let's bet on who Vancouver takes and who Flyers take! And these players might be swapped ,meaning the other team actually takes em…Van.had good luck with Americans so..Boldy..Flyers..Krebs

  18. As an oilers fan, I’m really glad we can finally get some winger depth this year… if we draft a centre or defencemen I swear I’m going to lose it. Praying for Zegras, Krebs, Caufield and Turcotte (although he is a centre I like how he’s looked)

  19. Caufield intrigues me because the NHL is still adjusting towards skilled and fast players and I think you see with guys like DeBrincat who were drafted not long ago already being studs in the NHL. So like how Debricnat was a second round pick and Caufield who probably goes in around the same spot in Debrincats draft is supposed to be a top 12 pick in this draft. so I wouldn't be surprised if in 2-3 years guys like that go top 3 consistently.
Essentially saying he's gonna be a steal in my opinion.

  20. your not feeling as nervous because we are drafting much lower this year. I feel the same. We are at a position at a no loss because we are at 10, we are as safe from media frenzy as you can get. no matter who we draft, we cannot be told "oh you guys drafted him too early" , not to mention I think Newhook Krebs also boosted their own draft stocks into the Boldy conversation so no, we are at win/win unless take someone body off the board we never heard of, then we can riot. tier 1, Kakko Hughes, tier 2, Turcotte, Bowan, Russian, tier 3, is literally all the other Americans the 3 Western hockey leaguers Cozens, Dach, Krebs, Newhook, who some think is a Matthew Barzal clone.

  21. so with most of the top American prospects committed to going to college,(Boston College will be great next year), who in the draft could step into the Canucks line up for next season based on where they are picking?
