Locked on Wild POSTCAST: Connor Dewar Nets Hat Trick as Wild Throttle Nashville 6-1!

The Minnesota Wild won their second straight game under new head coach John Hynes as they beat the Nashville Predators in convincing fashion 6-1 in Nashville Thursday night. The Wild improved to 7-10-4 with the win, and snapped a six game winning streak for the Predators. The Wild scored three goals in the first period to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Connor Dewar, Jake Middleton and Kirill Kaprizov all scored as the Wild jumped out early, and goals by Pat Maroon and Connor Dewar again in the second made it 5-0. Dewar finished the hat trick in the third period as the Wild had another perfect night on the penalty kill and held Nashville to just one third period goal. Filip Gustavsson stopped 26 of 27 shots in net for the Wild. Minnesota hosts Chicago on Sunday for their next game.

  1. Yes head coaching change was needed but it’s not a good sign this group of players needed their HC fired to motivate them

  2. I bet Dean is pissed but secretly happy. I believe he cared about the team but they collectively could not pull it together. So to that end I feel bad for Dean. As far as Billy, he is on his back and has a two count! He better do what it takes to keep the shoulder off the mat for the 3 count!

These guys now have to inspire each other to keep the intensity, keep the compete level at a 9 or 10. And even that may not be enough…

As far as Hartman coming back, put him with Foligno and Freddy. The Deweys and Maroon will set the pace!!!

  3. The difference between wanting to play
And having to play, the team just had enough of Evason
I was one shift of I really thought are boys would get 15 minutes,
This gives hinz a tangible the wild have
Never used, at least with Deano
With Vinnie leaving us it will make a difference, I can't think of a fourth line
That have the wheels we do
Also putting Dewar duhaim on top
On the pk really has made a difference
    Huge difference
Again time management what a difference good show Seth
You'll be at a hundred shortly
    Told ya

  4. That was an extremely entertaining game. The team brought 60 minutes of high intensity hockey in virtually every area of play. Gus made numerous big saves to keep the momentum going. Tonight Nashville looked like the team lost out there.

  5. Good game, but we can all say goodbye to Dewar next season now.

Dean also dimed out KK97's injury from Stanley last year now that he's fired (SI article). He's not the same anymore, and needs to be traded ASAP. He's already lost value, and that will continue IMO.

  6. I was at Bridgestone Arena with Mama Bear and watched the blowout. Couldn’t have picked a better game to do a road trip Wild game. Love the 4th line getting minutes, long-term this can only keep the tread off the tires for 97/36 which is a great thing. 97 will be back to his scoring prowess as he has the ability to change directions like few players can and his competitiveness is evident. As mentioned before, hockey is a mind game, and for whatever reason, the Wild lost their swagger for a bit. We can’t get too excited until they push +5 over the Mason-Dixon Line (.500) but it looks like it’s trending the correct direction. Gusty looked so solid last night, that will be the key trigger for any sustainability.

  7. I have an alert for the NHL Player Safety account on Twitter. I get notified on all their tweets because they tweet before a player has a hearing.

  8. Question. Was this ever a possibility In the summer…Could Guerin and the front office have renegotiated some of the top AHL Players contracts to the same level pay as Nannie’s GSon that way they would have had more latitude to pull-up whoever they wanted instead of just one player? I’m sure players would have agreed to a little pay cut to get a shot at the big club, or better yet why didn’t they leave more room in not giving guys like Gus or Freddy say the extra 250 k. If they would have had 1.1 mil instead of 850k the flexibility would have been way better. My point being is ,it looks like the person running the Cap is kind of clueless and obviously Guerin as the Boss did NOT look at these decisions w clarity and he signed off without due diligence. I don’t get the lack of financial awareness in hind sight, they had multiple years to decide the best course of action and chose to block themselves out from many AHL contracts. When the Addison deal was considered they penny pinched the hell out of him but were NOT cognizant of the numbers before hand to see the call up dilemma??? In the summer They Signed a few cheaper AHL vets to lower contracts and block AHL youth just to cover their ass before the season started but they once again screwed themselves , seems super fiscally irresponsible to spend every last cent and live paycheck to paycheck if u will. No one discusses the poor financial decisions BG made , these Cap decisions were critical
