Changes need made now!

This is getting to be absolutely unacceptable.

Did you hear Vincent when asked about it in the presser? “This is the NHL, the team was playing well.” Maybe you need to invest in the players who are going to be cornerstones on the team because the overall success and future success of this team is what is important. Then he blames losing leads on inexperience and that teams need to go through the losses to grow. LOL, you’re leaning on your vets and they aren’t pulling through.

I mean. They were up 3-0. It *was* working.

I’m glad he’s making the same observations about the Islanders. Not saying we don’t have an issue and don’t deserve heat, but the Isles have 10 blown leads as a veteran team and I’m not seeing even close to the mockery we are (deservedly) getting.

You cannot point to one game and make conclusions. Too small of a sample size. Fantilli is averaging 15:20 per game, which is fine for a rookie.

  5. Eric Robinson to Buffalo is a change. Not one likely to help, but still…

I think Vincent has done a good job this season, after being dealt a shit hand from the Babcock debacle, trying to change the culture….but I heard they used a TV timeout after 2nd goal against in the third period. Good! But then we gave up the typing goal right after! Call the dam timeout! It was embarrassing! You know your team has been blowing leads late in the 3rd period, calm the storm! In a way it worked ok….Jenner, Gaudreau, Danforth line had several chances! The Russian line has played great recently, but I thought they didn’t look well last night at all, and they aren’t the greatest defensively and gave up some chances late!
But inexplicably you start them in OT? I know Boone took the opening OT draw and after some jostling by the referee he lost it, slaked to the bench as he was instructed to do….and you have Chinny and Marchenko out there against the most veteran and arguably dangerous trio of Kings? Again I like the Russian group….but defending isn’t solely their strong suit…I mean Kopitar is a Selke Trophy Winner and Doughty a Norris Trophy Winner and both are two time Stanley Cup Champs? Kempe only scored 40 goals last year! 59 and 86 in basically their second year of NHL regular experience were NOT the two I would have put out there against that trip with LAST change @ home?!? WTF?!! Not smart! And it took all of what, twenty something seconds and one quick but basic cris cross in the O-zone (and a rocket of a perfect shot I must say) but game over….what did you expect? Losing this game for us was way more devastating then the Kings comeback….just heart breaking to fans and I’m sure the players! That’s telling stat of the Blue jackets 18 combined losses and in 14 or those games we had the lead @ some point is very telling….

  7. I think the constant amount of changes is what’s actually fucking the team over.

I have tried to stay optimistic, tried giving Vincent the benefit of the doubt… but the coaching yesterday was so baffling that even a know-nothing like me is confused.

Play the damn kids! It reminds me of how people used to complain about Tito playing his favorite unproductive veterans every game, heh. Worst part is, you knew it was coming, would have been more surprised if they didn’t fold. Looked shellshocked coming out of the break and did nothing to stop the bleeding. Predictable roll over and die sort of OT.

It’s not just this terrible game, or this season – it’s the long-term stuff that’s worrying right now. Speaking of the article on a lack of trust and the decisions that need to be made by people who probably aren’t going to be here next season…

Rather see 55 in the AHL playing 20+ min, in all circumstances. Fewer games and more time to work on his game with the coaches

Pascal Vincent’s most damning flaw is his unwillingness to play his best players. Accountability only works if it goes both ways.

Some Average Time on Ice by notable rookies in recent years:

    Patrik Laine – ATOI: 17:55. 36+28=64p

    Auston Matthews – 17:38. 40+29=69p

(Look at the amount of goals by these two in their rookie years…Jeez!)

Connor McDavid – ATOI: 18:53. 16+32=48p in only 45 games.

Mikko Rantanen – ATOI: 18:03. 20+18=38p. Played first year after drafting in AHL, this is his 2nd year after being drafted.

Leon Draisaitl – ATOI: 12:42. 2+7=9p in 37 games. Played half of the season in WHL.

David Pastrnak – ATOI: 13:58. 10+17=27p in 46 games. Played 25 games in the AHL.

    Jack Hughes – ATOI: 15:52. 7+14=21p.

    Aleksander Barkov – ATOI: 17:06. 8+16=24p.

There’s quite a lot of variation in how these stars have played in their rookie years and I think it’s important to note that less playing time doesn’t mean that the team is messing up their development, they can still become stars.

It’s also good to note that AHL is a good place for developing young players and players like Rantanen and Pastrnak were no worse for it.
