Necas and Teuvo have often stood out as guys that don’t play Rod’s system how he wants them to often. Bunting for sure. Probably looking at Pesce, Skjei, and Jarvis too.
Then the 3rd line is producing absolutely nothing which isn’t helping anything

Lets not talk about who’s lacking, lets talk about who’s putting in the work and should be getting more minutes of ice time, and lets talk about the system. What we’re doing isn’t working. Look at the teams that are at the top of the game right now, and how they’re creating grade A scoring chances. Sure we have a fantastic forecheck, and our blue line should be but isn’t incredible. Once we’ve gained possession we need to be blocking out and creating opportunities for cross-ice passes, but instead we just whack it in from the blue line with barely any net front. Orlov’s got an incredible shot, he just needs a tip in from somebody up front to finish, and our rebound game bas been terrible… when we gain possession we hold it so well, how hard is it to get somebody in front of the net to grab a rebound and finish?

There are guys with their heads in other places and not really there to buy into Rod’s system.
Don was playing with fire not getting deals for some of these guys. Even players like Jarvis are getting in their own heads during games because they think about how they play constantly since they need to earn their next deal.
Necas I think is another guy who’s looking for flashy plays and still not playing that sort of team game. I also think our coaching staff has really not addressed him very well either and let the situation get bad.
Rod even gave quite an odd slip up when he had his post game speech after the last Necas OT winner. Saying “that is why we pay you the big bucks kid”. We don’t pay him the big bucks yet and it’s not great to feed into that kind of mentality during contract year. Yes it’s just a phrase but, the context of it with Necas isn’t great.
You also have Teuvo trying his best to seem worth another big deal and he has been very hot and cold.
What’s sad is that so many of our guys who need to fight for their spot, need to prove their worth are the bottom 6 and they have been the best this year. So it’s really just the top guys being divas and not giving it their all.
