“Levi was told by the league’s hockey operations department that he can no longer kneel in the area in front of his net because the crews need to be able to clean the ice. He countered with a possible compromise, but was quickly told to take his routine elsewhere.”
“They weren’t happy I was blocking the snow pathway,” he explained to The Buffalo News. “I told them I’ll move, I’ll go after they’re done, but they told me to kick rocks basically and find a new place. Just adapt. It kind of (stinks). That’s kind of the spot that I like, but it is what it is. Move with the punches that are thrown.”

i mean, it was pretty obvious that he was blocking them from clearing snow from a high danger area which is definitely advantageous and probably intentional so. i don’t see an issue with him doing it from the faceoff circle.

What’s funny is this was posted on r/hockey yesterday, and there was a comment about how “it’s been his routine for ever and the NHL should back off, goalies are weird let them be weird.” My first thought was, well it hasn’t been his routine for very long and not when he’s had “success”. For all we know it throws him off his “routine” he had before tv timeouts. And well, probably his best game of the season having to switch it up….
