I think any hope of this being a playoff team was broken tonight. This is a bad team. I don’t care that they Vegas and Colorado. Even bottom five teams win those games in a season. The central being as good as it is doesn’t help matters—Chicago is the only team we’re better than.
The course is now clear. Sell any player that’s not a part of this team’s future. Thomas, Kyrou, Parayko, Binnington is the core. Buchnevich, Schenn, Toropchenko are in the next tier of guys who may be a part of the long term future, maybe not. Everyone else should be shopped. Why is Saad on this team? Krug? Vrana? Blais? Kapanen?
We need a high draft pick, we need defensive prospects. This team right now though is miserable to watch and going nowhere. Worse, they’re headed for the #13 pick in the draft.
I know they aren’t ready but I sure as shit would rather watch Dean, Bolduc and the rest of the thunderbirds roster than this depressing group of overpaid veterans driving this team off a cliff.
