  1. I hope they do not trade xhekaj. If there having trouble with him defensively maybe make him a power forward. We need that toughness esp during a rebuild with young players coming up.

  2. I'm actually afraid that none of these trade rumours matter. It won't make an ounce of difference, no matter if any of them happen or don't happen. This team that HUGO is supposedly building is so far from being a contender, or even remotely looking like it ever could be, that we're all wasting our breath talking about it. Myself included.

  3. I am almost 60 yrs old and a lifetime Canadians fan. Trade Costco and I am breaking up with the Habs and… NO we cannot remain friends!

  4. I love the kid but he might be an overvalued player for those who still believe that a physically intimidating terror is necessary to win. If there is a possibility to grab one of the top 5 prospects in the world, for a replaceable player, would be more valuable and fitting with the rebuilding plan. The longevity of one's career is more at risk with players that are expected to step in when fighting becomes a duty. Some NHL brawlers of the mast had longer careers in the absence of concussion protocol. Coach St. Louis was a small player who became a Hall of Famer by overcoming the natural adversities of the game. He expects the same from his troops. The robust presence of Xhekaj would be missed but relatively fixable. As a Hab fan, I would hate to see him go but his worth on the market could be beneficial beyond expectations. This could be the case of a player, with little teaching or seasoning, who played through his junior eligibility and was undrafted being worth the equivalent of a top skilled prospect. I trust Management to be ahead of the curve again.

  5. Typical MTL média freaking out that the Habs send WIFI to Laval, a bus ride away by the way. I blame the Habs for bad messaging on this… was it a reconditioning stint or do they want wifi to go improve his hockey game which has been average at best this year. Their should have been a statement that included saying threat je his a very important part of our futur.

  6. Now is perfect time to send Slaf on world cup for scoring form 🙂 .. slovak team will be awesome with him .. many goals and great form for him
    ( Slaf , Mesar , Dvorsky , Honzek , maybe nemec etc.. )

  7. This rebuilding team only has a few players that make it bearable to watch. Xhekaj is one of them. Caufield is another. One is not scoring goals and the other is in Laval. The team is in no mans land in the standings so we're not going to get a high end draft pick. It feels like this rebuild is f'd, but only time will tell. Don't count on bringing in a high end offensive player through free agency. We've been down that road for decades now and no one comes to Montreal unless they're already one foot in the grave.

  8. Arber ?— For an actual top 5 first round pick plus might be worthy of consideration depending what the draft class looked like …Otherwise there are lots of other issues to work on ..

  9. That playoffs style edge doesn't mean much if you aren't reliable enough to help the team get to the PO in the first place. 47 PIM in just 17 games, he's giving away more than 2 PPs to the opposing team per game. Let that simmer a little.
I fully agree it would be a shame to let go of him too soon as he's still developping and bring this unique edge but right now he hasn't shown enough consistency, while others have shown improvements in the areas we wanted them to.
Take Justin Barron for instance who's not as defensively savvy in the first place and was pretty bad in the beginning of the season but even he has shown some more improvement to his defensive game lately than Arber has in his discipline.

  10. The sherif is not going anywhere. He is neccessary to win in 3 years. You have to have a big guy like this to contend. Aguy like this is unique and valuable. He will be around for a long time.

  11. Kent Hughs needs to start being better at his job, the Habs are not showing any significant signs of improvement. At this rate, the playoffs don't look good for at least 7-10 years from now. Maybe not creative or fast enough but he needs to do more.

  12. Yeah, go trade what you have been missing for over 30 yrs, someone to protect the players. Plus he can actually play hockey as well. Been a lot more losses with jackeye out of the lineup. If I was Suzuki or Caufield I would be telling them move Jackeye you can move us.

  13. Hughes is probably looking for forwards that will be good jn 3 years. This is what he is probably looking for in a goalie trade. Teams loaded with young forwards will no doubt be the trade partner.

  14. get rid of st louie or anybody who doesn't think so!!!!! st louie like guys like savard the soft human zamboni!!!!! if you guys cant talk about that then your gonna loose people listening!!!! Jacki, Caulfield, Anderson, and montibeau are the reasons that people like me watch this crummy team!!!!

  15. Wouldn't be surprised if jackeye gets traded. He won't be the same player if or when he gets called back. The Habs coaches and management has messed with his head and he will second guessing himself and will have no confidence.

New management and coaches same old story with this team

  16. Primeau is no great shakes. I doubt if he will make it to the NHL. Keep Xkekaj. Don't make the same mistake when they traded for Drouin who turned out to be a bust.

  17. Where are the Habs going to find a player that brings to the team what Wifi does ? Of course other teams are interested.

  18. As a Hab fan for 15 years i can guarantee that the Habs will trade Arber. Just because they trade every single tough guy we manage to get to Montreal.
    Every single one.
If a team is willing to give up their first round pick, then guess what – maybe keep him?
Because he is ….wait for it…. a good player.
Big's getting bigger and small's getting smaller.

  19. If the Habs trade Wifi, they will be making a mistake from the point of view of team chemistry, and fan appreciation. Arber is the next Brendan Gallagher, a guy who fights for his team.

  20. I think that with Monty signed to a very reasonable extension he may be more interesting to other teams. Don't forget we drafted 3 top prospects this year and the Hab's are building towards 2025-26 or 2026-27 to be in position for a run by which time they are hoping one of this years picks to be NHL stalwarts.

  21. All I gotta say is "I hate rumors" … report facts and not rumors and pleaseeeee enough on Xhekaj. He got sent to Laval because he needs it. Let's all just deal with it. Good grief. 🤦‍♂

  22. If Habs trade Jackeye, I think I will take a break from following them. He is one guy I know we need for lack of toughness seeing how physical teams kick our butts, like LA Kings. And don’t ever think having Jackeye on the ice doesn’t restrain other teams from getting a wee bit aggressive against our munchkins. And having all these draft picks doesn’t mean anything to me anymore….don’t we have enough guys with potential in the minors? What, we need a few more….for what reason?

  23. Trading Wifi is major BS. We need guy like him on team.
He needs to work on his hotheadedness and don't take unnecessary penalties.
But cmon, he is not afraid of biggest fighters in the NHL, every team playing Habs with Xhekaj need to think about him and that every misstep will be punished.
Last season if refs were not fast enough Tkachuk would have been playing allstars weekend with blackeye.

  24. Meh.. I would not trade Arber. He's a bit raw but you can see the offense in him. And if he get his timing down on the defensive side he will become a mainstay on the club. That intimidating quality cannot be replaced.

  25. unless it is chicago or san jose pick or ducks pick —- forget it. habs need alot of help on offence. jack-eye gotta stop fighting, 3/yr max. he is not a good fighter. he fights like he is still in Jr

  26. Are the teams cup contenders? If so, a very late 1st round pick, then? No thank you. We have a rare gem. Let's not waste him. Even if St-Louis thinks players like Xhekaj have no talent.
He's still a must have for the team.

Does he need to improve? Yes, he's a young player after all. If he's traded, it will only please St-Louis and the receiving team and their fans.

  27. Yup, huge mistake to trade Xhekaj. He’s a massive fan favourite and super valuable to this team for his smooth smart playing but also his toughness and team first attitude. He bleeds bleu, blanc, rouge. You’d also be sending a message to your fan base that you don’t care about them either. Let’s not forget that 1st round players are not a shoe in to be great let alone an NHL bottom their player. No thanks.
