  1. That's why buying out a player like OEL never really made much sense cap-wise. The cap hit is like $4 million, but you sign some guy for like $2 million… that's the same as if you signed someone for $6 million, except that player is only a $2 million player.

OEL may not be the player he once was, but he still showed flashes of it. Considering he just started to recover from his injury, it would have been better to keep him around.

  2. whether he signs in vancouver or somewhere else i wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't get through the year because of his shoulder.

  3. Dhali also said the Flames WOULD NOT send Zadorov to the Canucks under any circumstance. Fast forward a week and we got him way under value. We’re gna see the Canucks sign Bear next week to a 2×2.

  4. Don no one is sending a dr to look in kelowna. Give your head a shake. Anyone who signs him with subject to a physical. Like in most cases when you buy a house subject to inspection

  5. Since the Canucks didn’t qualify him due to the injury I feel that could have tarnished the relationship and he will go elsewhere.

  6. Yes they should have kept OEL at lest until they were truly competetive and lower the cap penalty over time… it is still clear they should have sold assets and rebuilt, as they are 4-5 guys away from being a cup contender. You cant win with 3 prospects in your system, capped out, with a 4m cap penalty, for the ideal part of their stanley cup window.

  7. Trade Myers and a high pick for Tanev, 1) you save cap 2) your upgrading your RHd to a stable d-man who can log huge minutes, Shannon is right Bear is nothing special but Tanev is a defensive specialist. I have not seen Juulssen mcward irwin hirose friedman cough up pucks like myers has. Gotta stop the insanity saying Myers eats up minutes thats the actual problem. He also takes bad penalties, has solo rushes up ice that go no where, cant get his shots through from the point, Jryki Lumme edler and Adrian plavsic combined dont equal Myers give aways. Thats what he does with the extra minutes.

  8. He's not a top 4 defenseman, but if he's 100%, he's a very useful, hardworking number 5 who can skate. Personally I think it won't come down to money necessarily. It will be about term and placement. If he wants to play in Vancouver and they offer him an extension beyond this season, I think that does it, unless a true contender offers the same thing. He obviously wants to be in BC ideally. But if the Canucks offer him a #7 spot rather than bottom pairing (assuming he's ready to go), it could be more difficult.

  9. I would love to see The Bear join Canada's Team. With Giordano out, and a couple of others on the limp…The Bear would be welcome in Toronto.

  10. bear is not worth signing. Hes a average player at best I think they need someone else someone newer and younger.

  11. I don't get the persistent enchantment with Bear by D&D. Shannon said it best, he doesn't move the needle. I think they need to roll this d-core the rest of the year and see what happens and hope that Elias Pettersson II can make the jump next year.

  12. There seems to be some fascination about Ethan Bear… I think he is a serviceable defenceman, but is he definitively better than the likes of Friedman, Juulsen, Myers and Cole? I am not so sure… Remember, he was deemed a spare part with the 'Canes and that was why the Canucks were able to obtain him initially. With the team's play recently seemingly returning to earth back from the hot start that they have, I think it is fair to say this is a team that can make the playoffs, but is not going to win this year. I would much rather see the Canucks give the likes of Hirose, McWard, and Wolanin from the farm a chance to play with the big leagues and see what they have got, then to sign Bear to a contract with terms to further hand-cuff the team's cap.

  13. Bear isn't good, doesn't move the needle enough to make Canucks cup contenders with LA and Vegas
