What Can San Jose Sharks Take From The Golden State Warriors Success?

The Golden State Warriors have won their fourth championship in eight years. What are the main takeaways for the San Jose Sharks as they look to get back to becoming Stanley Cup Contenders? You have to find the right core. Trying to replicate Stephen Curry is tough, but can William Eklund become the engine for the Sharks? Can this year’s number 11 pick become the Sharks version of Klay Thompson? Can they find an out-of-nowhere star similar to Draymond Green in their prospect pool in Tristen Robins, Brandon Coe, Thomas Bordeleau, or Ozzy Wiesblatt?

Next, you have to be patient with your process and stick to your plan. It can be easy to be tempted into shortcuts and major decisions that can alter the franchise.

Finally, you have to have the right people at the right place at the right time. A look at why it’s important to make sure the coaches and front office are the right fit for the team at hand and the decision-makers who have to make those choices.

  1. If you look at Avs or Lightning, it's more like you gotta tank for 2-3 years and get 1st overall picks and similar picks. Warriors got super lucky by drafting 1st overall value at much lower spots. This might be their development and coach helping the people who get drafted.
