Canes are GROSSLY overpaying for KK…third center at best. Bergy can take the 2 picks and trade for a much better center. Pretty obvious KK wanted out and this is the best return Habs could have hoped for!
Great payday for KK, now he has to step up and show he is capable of playing a higher level.
Canes may have a good player if KK can produce, still at a very high price for next year + the loss of 2 high picks!
I would call this a win for Habs, losing a first pick who did not develop as expected and wants out….and gaining quality picks to make a trade.
It can also be a win for Canes if KK elevates his game, and they can sign him long term to a lesser value cap hit. More risk for Canes!!
