That game was just what everyone needed. Sammy gets a shutout that should be big for his confidence (and with Woll down we need him confident), Matthews gets a pair of goals, he’s one behind Kucherov in the Rocket race, there was some solid physicality all night, Reaves looked pretty good, the AHL D looked pretty good, that was an excellent game.
McCabe started the season with Klingberg, and was on for seven 5v5 goals against in the first four games. He’s been on for just six 5v5 goals against in the 14 games since.
New LTIR space not withstanding, nice to see McCabe play well without the extra baggage.
Just shut them right down. I can’t really remember many breakdowns last night. Really solid effort all around.
Still games in hand for the division and we haven’t played our best all year.
I am so happy for Sammy, I hope he gets his confidence back. I watched his interview and he’s pretty funny too.
SMILE IS BACK ON THE MENU BOYYYYSS
Huge shout out to Simon Benoit and the depth Treliving brought in on D. These guys came in as our 8th, maybe 9th defenceman and Benout ends up in the top 4 with McCabe for a few games now, and has done very well. He’s been hitting guys on zone entry, blocking shots very well, and overall showing he has a lot of value to contribute. Even Lajoie looked really solid last night making good plays under pressure etc.
All of Lagesson, Benoit and Lajoie have been great value adds for under a mill each. Great pick ups, if we didn’t have those guys we’d be icing Kokonen – Timmins as a pair, with Rafai or Blandisi and maybe even more from the Marlies at this point.
Loved that game. Lots of smile.
