  1. I'm not saying what Perron did was right (not at all in fact), but I will say I kinda get how it happened. Like mentioned in the video everything is happening really fast, Perron was in a scrum of his own in front of the net and likely was too distracted to see who hit Larkin and Zub was unfortunately caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. Fans that don't know these players personally and don't have actual stakes in this like the players do got very emotional. Imagine if this is your teammate, your friend even, you would be very emotional and more prone to going after the first person you thought caused this.

  2. If Kelly wasn't there, it would have been just a run of the mill push in front of the net. Happens 1000 times a season

  3. Long time Wings fan (since Yzerman got drafted). I agree that if Kelly wasn't there it would have been a non issue. As for Perron, he was definitely attacking with an intent to injure, but at what was going on, he was his Captain face down on the ice and saw the closest Ottawa player looking down at him. He lost it, snapped and took matters into his own hands, can't say that I blame him. But make no mistake it was an intent to injure. I just hope that at his hearing that they take everything into account and he gets a fair hearing.

  4. The sens have been a rough team to play against for a couple years, but what I've seen when they play the wings is a ton of dirty and pathetic amateur play. I get playing rough but its hilarious to think that they say this is a fast, agile, and playmaking league and then i see what goes down in games.

  5. There's never going to be a "good time" to talk about it, but here's my view:

    1. Perron earned his 5+ games that he's undoubtedly going to receive. He just watched his Captain go down in a heap. Perron, as anyone would, completely lost his mind and went after the first guy in a white sweater. I'm cool with him getting a seat in the press box for some games. The funny thing though, is people would be finding pieces of an opponent's face in the upper part of the lower bowl for weeks if it were Parros on the ice and an opponent hit his Captain like that, and I wouldn't have blamed him for that either.

    2. Kelly, the other Sens player involved, received what might actually be two undeserved minutes. He never really changed his position. He wasn't expecting to hit Larkin in the head. Larkin was already going down when Kelly hit him. The two was more than enough.

    3. Joseph. Even if the incident is as innocent as it's being made out to be in this video, it was still a dangerous play and he still hit Larkin high. I would go out and say that if he wasn't paying attention to who it was, if he didn't look to see and just hit the first head he came in contact with, that'd be even worse because he wasn't paying attention. But if you look at the replay, you'll see Joseph change position to ensure he gets Larkin — whether he knows it's Larkin or not == high.

Now, some of the more emotional takes, the idea that the Sens should be fined or have points deducted (What, like points in the standings? That didn't even happen when Todd Bertuzzi went after Steve Moore) is pretty outlandish and, I think, an outlier. But at the end of the day, Joseph either intentionally targeted Larkin or was negligent and it just happened to be a head that he was targeting. Either way, the league should've stepped in. The league should've taken a stand, called Joseph, and sent a clear message about head hits. Instead, the only avenging that was done was Perron going after the wrong guy.

  6. Perron did not decide to hurt whoever was closest, you can obviously see he went for the guy who looked like he was holding the knife while standing over larkins unconscious body. His actions were not indiscriminate, they were specific with the information he had in that split second. Perron, in all likeliness, thought zub was the guy who did it. From perrons angle with where he looked up and saw that, thats an easy deduction to make. Had he known it was joseph, he would have gone after him and been justified in his rage. I don't have a problem with supplimental discipline for perron for what he did, but lets get straight why he went after zub

  7. One thing is I'll give Kelly credit. He's the first person to call for the medical staff to come out from what I saw. His secondary contact , while might be the contact to knock Larkin out didn't look intentional. Joseph's initial hit did have a hint of dirtyness about it being that high.

I haven't seen perron at all take those kinds of liberties against anyone before and don't remember him ever being a dirty player. I'd love to think his hit was meant to be in the arm/shoulder and just got up high. Either way I could see a suspension coming (and rightly so).

  8. Boy we are a super weak hockey team. Just start calling us the leafs at this point. We canā€™t defend ourselves like proper hockey players and our fans are at the verge of toxicity.

  9. I fully agreed with what the on-ice guys didā€¦ it appeared it might have been a cross-check but clearly was shove to get the man away from the net.. .just unfortunate that Kelly was where he was.. still, both got hands in the head area creating minor penaltiesā€¦ fully agreeā€¦ Perronā€¦ when you watch the replay you see that the guy he went after 1. tripped and fell at/on the feet of Larkin.. 2. got up and realized Larkin was in a bad way and just relaxedā€¦ only to have Perron attackā€¦ I hear some try to explain it away.. sorry.. even with your explanationā€¦ heā€™s still and instigator and thatā€™s been banned for a while.. a cross check to the neck/head area on the guy whoā€™s stopped playingā€¦ well, I expect heā€™ll get some serious timeā€¦ and he shouldā€¦ Iā€™m so sick of this head hunting after a hit.. yeah, some is deserved.. like cheap shots.. this was NOT a cheap shot.. and mostly they go after the offenderā€¦ even for a clean hit.. well.. questionable hit with alot of bad luck.. and you attack the wrong guy viciouslyā€¦ I hope for 20 gamesā€¦ just to send the messageā€¦ but I expect 5-10ā€¦

  10. So two players can hit a player in the head either intentional or not doesn't make any difference. What about player safety. Canucks appear to be fine line dirty team. The wings should of player Kostin in this game to even things up.

  11. What do the Ottawa have to complain about? Would it have been better, if Perron waited until later in the game to ambush the right Sens players? A coincidental retaliation?

  12. Clearly intent to injure on Larkin.
Perron just tackled a guy šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

Senator guy should face serious suspension time.

  13. Terrible takes on r/Detroit

Kick Joseph out of the league? What Perron did was šŸ’Æ more reckless.

  14. The hit looked dirtier than it actually was on the replay. I'm a Wings fan but a combination of the glove hitting him in the neck after being knocked down, is what contributed to him being unconscious i think. It was a freak accident and the Perron game misconduct afterwards was warranted. Back in the 90's Perron wouldn't have even gotten a penalty though.
