James O’Connor is brilliantly open about his life & career | RugbyPass Offload | EP 36

James O’Connor joins the lads this week to walk us through his phenomenal and often misunderstood career. He talks to us about being the youngest player to line out in Super Rugby and for the Wallabies, struggling with alcohol, fame and partying, as well as playing in London, Manchester and Toulon before returning to Australia. One of the most talented players of his generation, he gives us an incredible insight into the highs and lows of his career so far and what his plans are next. Max and Ryan also cover off the Champions Challenge Cup Finals and the jubilant scenes in La Rochelle. #RugbyPassOffload #S2 #EP36

  1. Great show, love the humor + off the ball stories combined with proper rugby opinion and knowledge on the show. 👍🏻👍🏻

  2. Rugby and sport in general need characters like James…likeable rogues!
Glad that he is still part of Auzzie team.

  3. Max Lahiff's name calling – 'Dutchman' and failed attempt to do an Afrikaans accent does this show no favors. Also shows some jealousy and frustration on his part, probably because he consistently gets dominated by big men from South Africa. Will rather be watching other shows in future….

  4. What a missed opportunity. High profile athlete talking candidly about drug and alcohol problems and presenters trying to bring it back to how hammered he got for bants! Its like asking a recovering alcoholic to talk about how drunk they used to get, pathetic!!

  5. Great interview. James O Conner should be remembered for the way he singlehandedly dismantled teams early on in his career .Best of luck to him!

  6. Great interview, James was incredibly honest and candid, another Aussie legend on the show. My best rugby podcast, relaxed, no bullshit, and it's really entertaining.

  7. This is the best interview I have seen on your show so far, I remember watching Joc's whole career and seeing all the ups and downs and its great to see his actual honest perspective on the events that happened as opposed tot he crap that was fed to us by the media which created a fair bit of hate in the Aussie public towards the lad. Great to see him happy in a better space with a big smile!

  8. Good one guys I've always liked James hes definitely had an interesting career/life of ups and downs but thats the journey ha.I like his honesty and how he isn't making any excuses which is refreshing. He has done well since he has come back to Aus and good luck to him for the rest of his rugby career.

  9. James has been through a lot. The boys demonstrated what good and empathetic listeners they are, on top of being their usual entertaining selves. This show has real heart, there really is nothing else like it.
