New Jersey Devils Defenseman Dougie Hamilton suffered a pectoral tear in the game against the New York Islanders and The NJ Devils haven’t yet said anything about a possible return date.
Doing Some research online all the websites gave a timeline of about 6 months recovery time after a surgery like this. Travis Zajac underwent the same surgery and returned in 3 months time years ago. So with Dougie Hamilton the possible time of return can be from 3-6 months.
Simon Nemec was called up in Dougies absence and played solid for the Devils. Already scoring his first career NHL goal and adding some assists his very first game. Will Nemec stay up, or will the Devils make a trade leading up to the NHL trade deadline to add some depth on the Blue Line.

However long, wish the best for Dougie in his recovery.
not for nothing but we're better off without him, he's slow and can't play defense, we have enough offensive firepower, not a big loss to be honest
EDIT- Nemec scored 1st goal against Kraken, not Sharks. I said Sharks in the video, my apologies
I wonder if he's not on LTIR just yet bc of some cap mathematics I don't understand… maybe to maximize the space NJD could go over. But I think it's safe to say April would be an optimistic target for a torn pec… he could very well get shut down for the year, too. Depends on his recovery results.
Hey buddy, just saying hi, love your devils coverage! Simon Nemec has looked great since coming up to the devils, he played some good minutes In Tonight’s game against the Oilers.
Screw him. Guy has hardly any game besides his once in a while one timer. He can’t skate, can’t defend and can’t keep up period.
Your video has a unique charm that sets it apart from the rest. Captivating!
Hamilton is likely out for the rest of the season. And, Nemec first career goal was a game winning goal.
