  1. This Islanders game for Tavares reminds me a lot of our game in Arizona in 21-22. Everyone made this massive deal about how it was Matthews's return home after COVID. And that game was horrible from us, the team tried to feed Auston the entire time and it did not work at all. They did eventually get him a goal, but the game ended up being an embarrassing 1-2 loss against the Coyotes when they were bad. So I'm worried we'll get a repeat of that game.

  2. I was super skeptical when we drafted Bertuzzi. Obviously just nepotism. He was my favorite Red Wing every game he played and some that he didn't. Love that guy.

  3. No clean hits allowed 'cause it's the Leafs'… Cmon fellas. Subban had to be mobbed by the entire Bruins roster every time he threw a clean hit for years. It's not 'about the Leafs'.

  4. My name is Chris, but that alone was not enough to earn the like I gave you, no no… Its the South Park references that get the LIKES from me… "…for Canada, and therefore the world" got you this like…

  5. Hard disagree about knee on knee, they happen accidentally all the time. Watch more hockey, most aren't malicious. The ones that are though are pretty devastating, it still needs to be punished hard in cases like the Strome one here

  6. "The American media disrespects Canada"

    Lol
    lmao even

How's that taste of your own medicine? Ya'll disrespect American hockey fans all the time. Especially fans/teams in non-traditional markets.

  7. It's worth noting that Perron was called for Intent to Injure whereas Mathews was called for cross-checking. In the Perron v Zub instance, the ref deemed it more severe in the moment.

  8. Perron is going to get a long suspension for a host of reasons.

    1. Play was blown dead, and he proceeded to try and injure a player.

    2. Player had nothing to do with the injury, so he cannot claim it was not the intention.

    3. Blatant cross-check, no punches. Again it was clearly to cause harm.

  9. Any real league would protect their ticket selling talent. Hacking a goal scorer's extremities should be immediate suspension. Period. Actually, any attack on ANY player should be a suspension. A real league relies on skill. I would rather watch Caulfield play than meat on skates throwing a clean hit.

  10. Remember when Perron tried to elbow Kadri after he scored a goal? Remember when Perron chased Kadri down and started cross checking him in the head and neck?

  11. You were saying that it was Dylan Strome with the knee on knee and I was confused because I watch every caps game and I was like… how did I miss that!

  12. clean hits always had fight. Cliffton got 2 games for head shotting Nico and Nico came back for one shift and was out for 11 games, so idk too much flipflopping about this topic and "right"amount of games suspendend

  13. Time for a "Back in the day" moment.

Years ago, players like star players would, at that time, have to tell the 4th liner on their own team to knock off the chicken-** stuff. They did this because if the star player on Detroit or Winnipeg or Florida was the target of these over-the-line actions, then it's open season on the star players of Ottawa or Columbus or Anaheim. Next Det-Ott game does Ben Chiarot put Stutzle through the boards?

  14. Joseph doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt after the crap he pulled in Tampa. If he had a clean history I would be more willing to listen to the "unfortunate accident" argument, but he doesn't. Perron absolutely should get a suspension for hitting Zub, but DoPS should be throwing the book at Joseph as well. But we all know that won't happen because they don't actually care about the safety of the players

  15. I was glad Schiefele dropped the gloves after the hit on Connor. But the better feeling was the Jets scoring 4 straight in the 3rd to win. It couldn't be the Jets PP because it's bad.

  16. Cant wait for the Ohtani segment next podcast now his contract structure has been revealed. God I love that guy

  17. I understand that perron went after the wrong guy and that is bad. What I want is for someone to explain to me how exactly the Red Wings as a group of players should ensure that their captain stops getting attacked.

  18. I believe Steve was wrong. If I remember correctly there was a game between Col/Vancouver in between the two incidents that was like 3-2 where nothing happened because it was a close game. The game with the fight was the next game.

  19. Jon Heyman did NOT say that Ohtani signing in Toronto would be "bad for baseball." He simply said that Ohtani signing with the Dodgers, one of its most storied franchises, was GOOD for baseball. Just because he says it would be good in X city, doesn't mean it would be bad in any other city.

You know how you always like to point out "just because we say X is good doesn't mean Y is bad"? That's exactly what you're doing with the Heyman article lol. He never once says that Ohtani signing in Canada would be bad. You are making yourselves out to be the victims here when he did not say that.

  20. The problem with Ohtani from an American perspective is they won't get the same exposure if he was in the states. Broadcast rights are different via country, if Ohtani was in Canada there would be a lot of networks missing out his games.

  21. I have to say, as a Penguins fan, it is honestly quite cathartic seeing and hearing the open mouthed gasps at what's been happening this season. It defies all logic. Most of Dubas's big moves have paid off: Karlssons been great. Reilly Smiths been great. Committed to Jarry as the starter, he's the best he's been in years. Nedeljkovic as the backup has been good when needed as well. Crosby's line is utterly DOMINANT at 5on5. But the powerplay is an utter ABOMINATION. It's actually the extent that we groan when they get one because not only will they not score, there's a reasonable chance they concede one shorthanded instead. And even if they don't, it kills ALL of the momentum they gathered with their top-class 5on5 play. Receiving a powerplay is a kiss of death for this team. I have never seen anything like it.

  22. Was at the jackets game yesterday and the worst part, for us fans at least, was that the cousins hit was originally a 5 min major. They reviewed it and reduced it to a 2 min! If that didn’t happen everything would’ve been fine

  23. on the Perron "tax": I think a big factor is that it's after the play has been blown dead and Zub has completely dropped his guard, he's in medical emergency mode calling the staff over. To me that makes it drastically worse than a similar hit delivered during live play.

  24. completely lopsided in how the hit on larkin is talked about. if auston matthews got cold cocked in the jaw by rasmus dahlin directly into alex tuch's fist you'd want them both thrown out of the league, and this is regardless of larkin's previous neck injury being targeted in another dirty play by this very same player in mathieu joseph. you guys are more fair than most people that are talking about this but the reality is that perron fucked up, zub is an okay guy and didn't deserve that, i'm even fine with perron taking 6 games. but this was a dirty and targeted play against a player in a vulnerable situation, and it resulted in an injury. personally i won't sleep well at night unless on january 31st joseph loses teeth or time

  25. PLEASE READ FOR THE GUYS OF SDPN: Guys, stop saying maurice richard got supended for hitting a guy with his stick. thats not what happened. He is the one who got hit on the head with a stick and start bleeding on the head. what happened after is that he stood up and try to fight the guy who hit him, then a big scrumble begin with both team. Maurice was then recieving punches and not being able to defend himself because the referee was holding him and letting the guy of the other team punch him, and the reason why Richard got suspended its because in that moment being held by the referee when he succeed in getting off from the ref's grasp turned around and punched the referee for helping the other guy beat him up.
