Tonight as the Ottawa Senators hosted the Carolina Hurricanes we saw a penalty shot unlike any other I’ve seen before. Brady Tkachuk up against Pyotr Kochetkov. If these guys have anything in common, its that they’re both a bit unhinged so what could possibly go wrong? Kochetkov made a diving poke check on the penalty shot that sent Tkachuk flying into the boards and he was NOT happy. The two squared up but refs got in the way and in the end, a penalty shot resulted in a 10 minute misconduct for Brady in just a wild sequence! I cover it all in todays NHL hockey video!

Need more of this in the NHL again
Really nice save.
That was ๐ฏ on purpose.. Hilarious and dirty as fuck.. With nobody on Bradys team backing him up ๐คฃ๐คฃ
Dirty play by the non-cup winning goalie. Forgot his name. A poke check is when you go for the puck, not a playerโs skates.
He was playing like nhl24. Flying poke check ๐
The goalies get away with some shit during shootouts just tripping dudes and such
that was a bit of a trip by kochetkov
That wasnโt no poke check it was a blatant trip!!! He should be suspended for this because Tkachuk could of been injured sliding into the boards, bottom line that was nothing more than a blatant trip!!!
Kochetkov made some new fans.
isnt pokecheck supposed to hit the puck
How is that a penalty shot?
Goalie did NOT throw stick.
53.1 Throwing Equipment โ A player shall not throw a stick or any other
object in any zone. A player who has lost or broken his stick may only
receive a stick at his own playersโ bench or be handed one from a
teammate on the ice (see 10.3).
I'm with Tkachuk on this one. It's not about the score, it's that it was a dangerous play. He could really have gotten injured.
I'd be upset as well, very dangerous to trip a player and send crashing into boards.. if this continues, I could see player's " accidentally falling or crashing into him ".. fair is fair
Nice spitvision shit captain
Tkachuk could've chipped it over him. It's not the goalies fault he can't shoot. It's also goalie interference. The goalie can leave the net, the players have to avoid him.
Always love seeing the Goonsens lose
Suck it Brady ๐
AWWW, poor Brady Booboo
give it two or three more years and kochetkov could be a solid started for carolina
As a red wing. I feel zero Fs given for the senators.
I love this season๐
He got Tkachuked out of the game! ๐
Keep your head up, Brady.
Hasek did the same on a breakaway
I see this as not being over by a long shot between these two. Mark my word, the Canes goalie will end up in the back of the net by Tkachuk.
Another crybaby Tkapunk moment. Cry me a river!
What a nice calm, respectable Captain Ottawa has.
Great look by the captain to get ejected. Big tough guy ๐๐
Thatโs my goalie.
From ex-goalie perspective, Tkachuk kinda did this to himself. Just dont have your eyes on the puck. Not every goalie will just wait for you to skate into 10 cm distance and let you do your thing.
Like many people mentioned, that pokecheck is not about hitting players skates, but to cover one potentialy vurnerable side. This move is basically a huge flip, and mostly depending on how fast can a player react to it.
When it comes to the "throwing stick" issue, i looked it up on 0.25 speed like 10 times. We can see that Tkachuk had half of the net completely emty, so i asume that goalie dropped the stick, trying to get himself there as much as he could. However, Tkachuk didnt shoot, instead dodged to the right.
B.E.A. uuutifull. Love that style of goalie, reminds me of Roy, Potvin, Fuhr.
Bad look for shootouts, every goalie can just go after peoples skates I guess. Thats technically a tripping penalty should have been a re due shot. Donโt really care anyone elseโs opinion I know mine is the right one.
Brady is a joke of a goon. Just like his brother.
As a Panthers fan, I would love to see more goalies play like this, with the pad stack save and poke check
I've said many times if goalies started being more aggressive w/the poke check players wouldn't know what to do. Wedgewood did it a few nights ago on Kustnesov* in a shoot out, it was a full poke check but he did poke at him as he got in close and the dude shot wide. Hopefully coaches start picking up on this and training goalies. All the fancy moves these players are making they have to look down at the puck to keep track of it and it's the perfect time to be aggressive.
Is anyone surprised that a TKACHUK is involved. These guys are hockey poison.
i love it, as a goalie who love the driving poke check, and i love the pad stack. old school goaltending never die for your buttyfly hoes out there.
