  1. You said it D-Mac! The lack of respect the players have for each other is sad. David Perron, sir you have all my respect.

  2. As soon as i learned Kostin wouldn't play that game it was obvious that Ottawa would be headhunting. I expected several Redwings injuries as a result. Hope Larkin can keep playing.

  3. Both Ottawa players who targeted Dylan's head with sticks in hand should have received game misconducts instead of 2 minute "roughing" penalties.

  4. Larkin needs a Bob Probert or a Darren McCarty to watch his six. Don't get me wrong, he's a tough guy, but he's not there for that, he's there to lead the team. Probie would have mopped the floor with Joseph and made a necklace out of his ears.

  5. As a former player, coach, and fan of the game- one of the things that makes the game so unwatchable for me these days is the constant cross-checking that's allowed. Pushing off a player and using your gloves while holding a stick, etc is fine, but it has slowly become an acceptable part of the game. "Player safety" my ass, they aren't going their job letting this become part of the game- it doesn't have to be aimed at your head or neck to recklessly cause injury, but that's the only time it ever get's called.

  6. Bettman is the worst. He hates self policing players and takes it personally if players take care of each other when the nhl won’t. The instigator initiation led to this

  7. The biggest problem is you’ve got a goon in George Parros head of player safety. 2021 Joseph went about driving Larkin’s head into the boards, Larkin got up and got him with a grazing punch and Joseph crumpled with an Olympic class dive, then Larkin dropped his gloves to fight whoever else came at him and he got a game suspension for “roughing”. I thought roughing was a minor penalty. Joseph pulls this shit on Larkin and gets nothing. Whether unintentional or not (my money is on intentional as Joseph was looking right at him when he made contact) you cannot have guys having free reign to headhunt the opposition and get a light slap on the wrist or nothing at all in this case.

Parros is the biggest fucking clown when it comes to doing his job and doing it fairly.

  8. I still can't believe that the ref called a cross checking major to Joseph and Toronto reviewed it and called it a minor for roughing. Also, why did the training staff let Larkin get up and then assist him off of the ice after being unconscious for a minute? Put him on the stretcher! What if he blacked out again?

  9. This guy has headhunted Larkin before, which is why he's full of crap when he says it's an accident. Wings are a skill and finesse team now with little toughness. If this happened to Stevy Y that guy would have left the ice on a stretcher back in that era. Why I was sad when we got rid of Bert. We could use a couple gritty guys like him on this team.

  10. Perron gets 6 games because he hits a player who sees him coming. Joseph gets 2 minutes for a blindside hit…..well done NHL

  11. that was retribution by Joseph for larkin punching him when he was with Toronto when he shoved larkin head first into the boards joseph is a coward for doing it

  12. Well said Darren. And thank you for saying! This is a symptom of deep concerns… I pray Dylan is alright and everyone remains healthy… We must all be better!

  13. Wtf! On March 11, 2004, the NHL ruled that Bertuzzi would remain suspended for at least the remainder of the Canucks' season, which ultimately cost him the final 13 games of the regular season plus seven playoff games. The Canucks were additionally fined $250,000.

  14. There are two many incidents this year where guys are going high with their stick…Joseph knew Larkin was there and he is not 6'6" so no need to hold his stick that high…NONE. Toronto also changing it from a major to a minor was ridiculous. Joseph also had both of his hands at Dylan's head from the angle that was straight on from Dylan's front. Department of Player Safety is also a joke with not doing anything to Joseph. Trouba swung his stick with both hands at someone's helmet earlier in the year and didn't get anything….so many dangerous boardings too that haven't had any repercussions either.

  15. D-Mac is my all-time favorite Red Wings "grind" player. I have a signed #25 on the wall in my work office <3. When this pair of cheap shots happened, my wife said "Oh man, those guys are lucky McCarty isn't playing, because those guys would be in a world of hurt for doing that" and she's a Pens fan lol.

  16. There's been such an emphasis on offense (speed and scoring) that it seems to be forstering a hyper-violent "defense"-mentality amongst some players that is reinforced by a lack of respect for others and their families. There's nothing wrong with a 2-1 or a 3-1 game. In fact, I'd say it's more thrilling versus these high-scoring 7-5 tilts Bettman's trying to push for every night. That could have easily been another Betuzzi/Moore incident.

  17. Darren has suffered too much brain damage. Joseph's "hit" on Larkin was as light as it comes. Did it deserve 2 mins? Sure. But Darren himself has taken far harder hit to the face and didn't get knocked out. Larkin sadly has a glass jaw.
I hope he recovers, but that type of hit shouldn't have knocked him out.

  18. It’s unfortunate, but the game has become wussified. You’ve got pansy players going for others heads. Disney on ice with a puck. If a player gets checked on the boards they are looking for revenge. I thought checking was part of the game. The players are more concerned about pedicures and wine. The game has become beyond boring. All my opinions of course.

  19. Perron was hitting him in the shoulder and he raised his arm n made the stick go up..watch the replay..pretty sad neither of the other 2 players got any discipline, was combo from both but the but of the stick got him in the jaw

  20. Perron’s deserved suspension was worth taking.
The downgraded the penalty on Joseph and this has tenaciously stood up for each other the last few years. Sucks Kub at a face full of carbon fiber but someone should have.

  21. The less “violent” they made the game the more dangerous it is. I said the samething…if that was Yzerman the whole team including the backup goalie would have defended him as soon as it happened….

  22. The answer is simple; link suspensions to the days the injured player is out. If you hit someone and he's out for a week, you're out for a week. If he's out for the rest of the season, you're out for the rest of the season. I would limit the suspension of this to hits at shoulder level and above. If the hit is intentional or with malice there should be additional penalties.
