Canucks were very solid tonight. A few turnovers in the first and the pk gave up a bunch of shots. But great second period and shut it down in the third. Staying out of the box the last two periods was key. One very impressive stat is the Canucks are still perfect coming into the third period with the lead. Very few teams have that stat…potentially being able to protect a lead in a close game could be crucial to our playoff hopes. And they've been lights-out this season.
Side note: Not only is Boeser tied with Mathews in goals but he's also ahead 35-32 in points in the overall scoring race. I can guarantee you Mathews gets WAY more ice time and his contract is 13.25 million a year which is a helluva lot more expensive than Boeser's. I doubt this will last to this extent all season but if his numbers end up remotely comparable to Mathews by year's end his current contract is a steal.
Big Z had his best game. We are F'ing legit
the sedins have been spending a lot of time with hoglander and obviously it is paying off. canucks have 4 games against the kings. we'll see what we've got after those. in the 3rd period i didn't worry about the outcome like i do a lot. they kept them on the perimeter and didn't give them many clean shots.
