Late in the 1st period, Simoneau was hit in the head by Hartford Wolf Pack’s Matt Rempe. The referees didn’t initially call a penalty and let play continue while Simoneau was lying on the ice. After a long consultation period, the refs gave Rempe a 5-minute penalty and a game misconduct for a check to the head. The lack of a stoppage during an obvious injury was eerily similar to what happened to Simoneau exactly 1 year ago, as seen in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qSFv3VxXO_M&t=297s
At least this time, Simoneau was able to return to the game.
