Canadiens’ Juraj Slafkovsky is making solid progress | HI/O Show

Juraj Slafkovsky, the No. 1 overall pick at the 2022 NHL Draft, has been making noticeable progress in recent games and becoming much more of a physical presence on the ice for the Canadiens at 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds.

In this week’s episode, host Jessica Rusnak of CBC DayBreak and our panel — Montreal Gazette columnist Stu Cowan, former Canadiens defenceman and assistant coach Rick Green and Andrew Berkshire of SDPN Sports — break down Slafkovsky’s game, looking at what the 19-year-old winger is doing well and where he still needs work.

Some other questions the panel answers this week include:
• When defenceman Jordan Harris returns to the lineup following a lower-body injury, who will sit out?
• How long will defenceman Arber Xhekaj stay with the AHL’s Laval Rocket?
• Can Cayden Primeau develop into a solid NHL goalie?
• What bad habits are the Canadiens falling into?

  1. Uncle Phil was not going to sign in MTL. Even if they doubled the 5x5m deal. He is in sunny Cali with zero pressure or recognition driving to practice in his flip flops and shorts with the top down on the sports car. And he deserves it, cheering for him to get a shot at the cup.

  2. 19 years old. Men do not mature physically until 21 which is why 21 was (and still is in some places) the age of adulthood. This kids will be a BEAST!

  3. One lucky goal in a shoot out is not what I would call "solid progress", he should be in Laval.
