What Is The San Jose Sharks Ceiling After Recent Road Trip?

With the recent run by the San Jose Sharks, does this change their ceiling this year? Looking at some of the big questions surrounding the Sharks after their surprising road trip has fans feeling much better about the Shark’s immediate future. Start with if the Sharks could be a fringe playoff team after going 3-2-1 on this road trip and why the Sharks are probably in between the world’s worst hockey team, we saw at the beginning of the season and the Cardiac Sharks of late. Then, look at one of the big questions of what to do with Mikael Granlund when Logan Couture returns from his injury and if moving Granlund to win or sending Couture to the third-line center is an option. Finally, should the Sharks’ recent run of success change how Mike Grier handles the trade deadline this year?

  1. Duclair, Hoffman, Barabanov and Kunin are trade bait none of them are building blocks. Granlund is a dude who could who could be helpful for the younger guys up until next year's deadline. No reason to trade him at this deadline unless you get a crazy offer.

  2. I agree that Logan should be eased into the line up. However, I would not initially put him back on the PK due to the frequency of direction change and max effort. Let his stamina build up and go from there.
I don't see Grier deviating from his plan, nor should he. This season is about teaching the younger players what they need to do to compete everyday in the NHL.

  3. Stay on track for the rebuild. Trade the guys and get some good young assets. Things are looking up.

  4. Unrelated to this video but does anyone know if we get the penguins 1st round pick next year if they get a top 10 pick this year? One would assume so but typically trade conditions specifically stipulate such terms, however I have not seen anywhere that specifically says that if the pens get protect their pick this year they have to replace it next year.

  5. I’m really enjoying watching the games this year! I had low expectations for the Sharks, so it has been nice to see some exciting hockey! Really enjoying watching the team come together. Granlund and Bailey have been a breath of fresh air. I look forward to watching for the rest of the year. I say “screw the tank!” You never know the future, so go for it when you can.

  6. Also, if you are looking for content ideas, it used to be fun when you and Kyle used to do speculative trade ideas..kind of armchair GM stuff. Most of it doesn’t work out, but those are fun nonetheless..good break from the usual
