  1. Larkin had one less than productive season when yzerman asked him to concentrate on being great defensively. I'd love to see a package of that, he's had some awesome defensive plays.

  2. I'm still eyeballing Cartoid Sinus Hypersensitivity as a possible condition/underliying cause of the collapse. The fact that concussion protocol seems to have had no red flags make this a greater possibility. And yes, this was his best offensive year, most of his points matter (GT/GW points, first goal of game)

  3. I have a feeling what he experienced was not as traumatic as…well, a knockout from trauma. It could have been an interruption of the blood flow, like a choke, that just shut him down and that would definitely be less damaging than a concussion. The hits he took just didn't look very strong and it seemed like a freak accident to me.

Either way, it still really sucked. Unless the team really starts to go nuts, he probably won't be able to break his career high in points. But I think he was on track to, the way things were going.

  4. Larkin has really come into his own this season. Watching him and seeing the discussions over the years a lot of people have underrated him or put him at 2C tops. The guy not only is incredibly fast and a great playmaker, but also is one of the only star players that is a top defensive forward on their team. Love to have him, especially since he’s a Michigander.

  5. The next time Det and Ott plays, it's going to be Col n Det 2.0.
Wings will be out for revenge and I wouldn't be surprised if they went after Tchuckie or your boy Stuzie.

  6. How the hell does Perron get 6 games when Joseph doesn't even get a 2 min penalty…….DOPS needs to get their heads out of their fucking asses or there will be another Bertuzzi/Moore incident happening soon….

  7. I love how he talks about “classy” sens fans. I’ve been seeing too many comments saying Larkin dove. Did you not see that Johnny? Why are you so biased it’s disgusting!🤮

  8. The topic on this one should be, why Sens #21 Joseph can knock Larkin out from behind with a punch to the neck and to the head and not suffer any major discipline. That`s really confusing me, as this was not a hockey play at all.
    What is DoPS doing?

  9. are we gonna talk about how it was Mathieu Joseph who rabbit punched him. The SAME GUY that had a dirty hit on larkin a few years back when he just came back from an injury? Surely cant be a coincidence.

  10. I seen more senators fans making fun of it than sad about it, as well as more oilers fans making fun of it, disgusting things to do

  11. Great to see him return, especially since the majority of the Red Wing fan base thought Joseph planned Larkin's assassination.

  12. As a red wings fan, Larkin gave us hope, then with Stevie Y he told us we will be great and built the team off of Larkins shoulders. He has been through it all especially the past couple of weeks to begin with and to see him go down like that during the first season of success we have had in years was a heart stopper. So I’m thankful he is okay and is going to be back. You see right now without him the impact he brings.

  13. Not only is Larkin scoring more but our young guys like Raymond and Seider are starting to see their prime with Raymond over 10 goals a quarter of the way through the season

  14. Jets fan here. I’m a huge fan of the red wings as a whole. They have electric scorers in DeBrincat, Larkin, Copp, etc, and I’ll always cheer for the underdog team! Glad to see Larkin skating and I hope he’s back on the ice soon. 🙂

  15. As a Wings fan, yes I think this is his best year offensively. With his hot start he was basically guaranteed a career year in points. He's been great for the last few years though. The speed is obvious, but things like his play along the boards don't get enough credit. Biggest difference is he has the best linemates he's ever had while wearing the winged wheel. They're a good fit too. Larkin's a great puck carrier, but he's not really a play driver who sets everyone up well. But his pace and the way he mixes up his speed opens up opportunities. He's got smart wingers now who can play with tempo, shoot and probably most importantly pass well on the rush. DeBrincat and especially Raymond fit him so well.

  16. I think it's always worth remaining skeptical about seeing a player on the ice sooner than you'd expect. Hockey (and other sports, but particularly hockey) has a bad culture of praising guys for playing through injury. So while it was nice to see people acknowledging the injury and wishing him to be healthy, I think that work gets undone when we start celebrating things like this.

"Lebron James missed three weeks because he stubbed his toe, but Dylan Larkin only needed one week to come back from a broken neck!"

Obviously some hyperbole there, but we've all seen memes very similar to that. And being excited to see a player back on the ice so soon is always step one to creating dangerous scenarios like these. We KNOW the NHL has a problem of pushing guys back onto the ice earlier than they should. We've all seen the Jack Eichel scenario in Buffalo. Buffalo is not unique in doing things like that. This video even highlights that Detroit is in the thick of a playoff battle and that Larkin is a key player for them. It's very much on the table that they could be rushing Larkin back onto the ice. Coaches and team doctors don't give a crap about the personal health of their players. Their first focus is on how to win games today.
