  1. MacFarland is turning into one of the worst GM's in the league. Tatar was here on a team friendly deal. No reason to trade him out if hes not producing. Were not getting anything back. Another moron move by MacFarland.

  2. Nice shrewd little trade for the Canucks. Alvin picking up that 6th round from the Sharks is nice, it's pretty much guaranteed at this point to be beginning of the round, so it's almost like a late 5th. And more D depth is good, shores up Abbotsford and gives another option for a D callup if need be. Hopefully Tatar can bounce back in Seattle as well.

  3. I was, and still am, an ardent Tatar supporter. He's got talent. I mean. You don't have mutliple 50-60 point seasons as a mid line guy without some talent. He just didn't mesh well with the Avs. All the luck to him in Seattle

  4. I think Cicek will personally benefit from this trade. He's coming to a team that probably uses more resources to coach their players into playing the way they like, and he's young. I doubt he makes much of a difference if called up to Vancouver, but maybe he becomes a reliable call up who doesn't make a ton of mistakes. Too early to say, but that's my hope.

  5. Moving out a forward that wasn't likely gonna get serious time with the big club or a Depth Dman and a pick

Alvin did all right …. and im sure the other bigger moves are cooking

  6. Seattle and Vancouver won these trades.

Tatar was on pace for about 25 points and his on-ice goal differential was basically even with expectations, which is worth his $1.5 million salary cap. They gave up a 5th, which will likely turn into a player than doesn't play a single game in the NHL. The Avs do get some cap space, but not enough to make a real impact. I guess Lehkonen can come back now without an issue.

Vancouver traded a player who was likely never going to play for them at the NHL level again for a player who will likely never play for them at the NHL level and got a 6th pick as well, which will likely turn into a player that never plays at the NHL level. Maybe they will trade it away as part of a bigger deal later.

On a side note, there have been 14 trades since training camp 'started'. (It's hard to say when training camp officially starts, because there's prospect / rookie training before the full camp starts.) The Canucks have been involved in 6 of those trades and I think they've won or tied all of them.

  7. The only thing that confuses me is that the Avs keep sending good players to the one team that consistently gives them trouble in the west.

  8. Don't think Cicek will be getting called up. Juulsen has been playing well lately and when Soucy comes back that 6th D spot will have lots of competition from Juulsen, Friedman, and Wolanin

  9. Red Wings fan here and I really liked Tatar when he was on our squad. I remember when his dad passed away and he went out the next game and scored a game winning goal for him. Was a nice heartfelt moment that I was fortunate enough to watch live. I will follow his career and hope him well.

  10. As a devils fan really loved Tatar brought alot of energy and he scored the second goal vs the rangers in game 7 and with devils last yr had 20 goals I think he can bounce back just didn't workout in Colorado

  11. Hope Tatar can find a fit in Seattle as well as Tolvanen did. We can't seem to keep our offensive guys healthy so here's to fresh starts.

  12. Devils offered Tatar an extension after the season. Unfortunately, he wasn’t happy with just 1 year contract, he wanted 3 years. Then he was disappointed because he didn’t get any good offers from contenders so he signed with Avs for less than Devils offered him because he wants the Cup. This trade is super disappointing 😢

All this info is from a Slovakian hockey podcast he was on during the offseason.

  13. Studnicka really grew on me and i wanted to see how he paned out on this team but depth is depth and a extra pick is always good to

  14. I like Tatar. Even though the points weren't rolling in for him, i was really hopeful. But, nevertheless, i hope he gets it going in Seattle. Hes a great dude and a solid player.

  15. It's way too early to speak about this fact, but, Tatar in the playoffs is always… terrible, so that might be also worth considering.
One goal in 27 games, Colorado wanted and needed more. Sad for him, but a change of scenery might do him some good.

  16. I liked Tatar but it was clear he did not really fit in with the Avs, Meyers has been playing well so I think he is taking his spot or maybe they call up Tufte again. Maybe this also means that Lehky is coming off LTIR in the near future.
Hopefully Tatar can do something similar to Tolvanen in Seattle

  17. No idea who Nick Cicero is but I’m a little miffed about Studnicka. Oh well best of luck Jack
