  1. Everything that you have said is valid reason for the Wings to be careful with him. I'm confident Stevie already thought about all of this, that's why it's a one year deal.

  2. It really doesn't look good. I think he needs to retire. If they get 30 points out of him, I'd be surprised. Use that hup to walk, not play hockey.

  3. Kane is a proper roll of the dice, if he can get remotely close to where he's been then he's a steal. I won't be surprised if he's sheltered a bit to start with though because of this surgery which is why this is a massive dice roll. I hope he bucks the trend of players following this type of surgery…….

  4. yzerman doesnt need to do anything. its low risk move. if kane hip holds up its a win and if it doesnt. it cost detroit nothing. theres LTIR. lol.

  5. One reason people have pointed to why this is not a risk is because if it doesn't work out he can be scratched. My concern is that it may be difficult to do that to a future Hall of Famer that you just signed. To do so would make Stevie Y look bad, so how much damage would Kane have to do before they are willing to put him on LTIR or make him a healthy scratch? I hope it works out. Maybe putting him on the 3rd line will work well if he is not up to playing in the top 6. Maybe he will do really well on the 2nd line. Who knows? It is certainly a good signal to the league that Detroit is a destination for trades and free agents.

  6. He has been taking hits for almost 2 months and been cleared by Dr's after 4months he will be in the line up next week. These surgery r all a little different. Watch his press conference. Let just hope for the best

  7. Honestly, I send Ras to GR. Dude has been absolutely underwhelming this season. Kostin is filling his role on the fourth line just fine IMO, but Ras, a 7th overall pick in 2017, isn't.

As for the before/after the surgery stats, it all really depends on how Kane is used, and more importantly, how hard Kane tries to push himself. There's a reason he's only here for one year, and if Kane does play out the rest of the year with us, and he's re-signed, I don't see a scenario where he'd be brought back for more than one year. Stevie isn't gonna pull a Kenny Holland and saddles this team down with a lengthy contract that could result in a buyout.

  8. This is so low risk, there is nothing to be careful of. They have an additional 10 mill in cap space for any trade moving forward.

  9. After watching the press conferences, Kane is hoping to play in 7-10 days. Hes been taking contact for the last 2 months. Hes openly willing to play with anyone on the team, so probably start 3rd line with pp time. As far as recovery status, he says hes feeling alot better and is able to use his right leg now to skate laterally and crossovers. His surgeon also said its likely he will be able to play hockey again. Andy Murray also had the same surgery and is still playing tennis.

  10. All those players retired for other reason except Backstrom and that hasnt even been confirmed to be hip related.

  11. Low risk signing. Have the cap space, and he looks healthy and ready to go! He said himself that he feels better then he did with the Rangers last year. So I think this is a solid signing.

  12. Literally redwings can't lose on this deal. So idk, if he cant play or sucks big whoop its 2 million. If he does play remotely like he can, it's the biggest bargain in the league.

  13. Yzerman is a savant GM. A determined and wise player, a winner. So is Kane. Two Hall of Fame'rs sat eye to eye, and clearly made an impression on each other. The salary is trivial, Yzerman has $ to burn. Making room for Kane is easy. And… The playoffs are that much closer, with a better Power play, improved chemistry (DeBrincat), and a guy that has done it ALL, wearing the winged wheel. GO WINGS!!!

  14. He's gonna play sheltered minutes my dude. Patrick Kane will go when he's ready to go. He's a brilliant mind and very smart. We signed Kane not Corey Perry. It'll be alright; everyone on Detroits bottom 5 performers is easily replaced by any FA or GR prospect. Kane adds talent to the depth not clutter.

  15. If he actually bounces back to being a 15-20 goal scorer this year with like 45-60 points, it’s the deal of the century. If he doesn’t pan out I think everyone will look at yzerman like he gave a top 5 player of the last 3 decades a good chance to come back from hip surgery. Either way he’s smart for giving Kane a contract. My gut feeling is that Kane will do well enough to get another 2-3 year contract after this season 🤞
