He’s the youngest captain in NHL history, an extraordinary talent with unparalleled speed, a five time Art Ross Trophy winner, and the cornerstone of the Edmonton Oilers. So, how good is Conor McDavid, actually?

Born on January 13, 1997, in the small town of Richmond Hill, Ontario, Conor McDavid’s journey began. His parents, Kelly and Brian McDavid, played a crucial role in his early exposure to hockey. Though his family was not deeply involved in professional hockey, they held a deep love for the game, a passion that they instilled in young Conor. At the age of three, McDavid was already mastering his balance on skates. By four, he was playing hockey, showcasing an immediate natural talent for the game.

  1. McDavid is also a very gritty player and a great hitter. He doesnt usually do it but only because he chooses not to. When he does hit you can tell it hurts. Hes emotional and confrontational in scrums

  2. I have been watching NHL games since 1975. I have watched thousands and thousands of games. I have never seen anyone like Mcdavid. Gretzky is the man, the GOAT (right now) but McDavid may end up being right up there, he is the most skilled player I have ever seen. No one is close.

  3. He’s good enough to be the best player on the planet.wont really know how good he is till his career is over ,but at this stage he’s the best player in the world👍🏻

  4. Very skilled player…whiny little b!tch prima donna that pouts and throws games until his ex-agent fires his coach. Anything to not have to play defense.

Overall, Eichel was the better pick. As soon as he got out of the cesspool that is Buffalo he got a ring. Better overall hockey player and more of a team player. McBaby will never win squat.

  5. McDavid is not a winner yet. Many greats had to learn to sacrifice offense to win. Last game goalie out the opposition turned it over deep. 4 Oilers were quickly leaving the zone for the empty net. They then turned the puck over. Time to play it safe and learn a style that wins in April. 97 and 29 cannot win playing 25 mins a night.

  6. If he was paired with Amazing Defenceman like Orr/Esposito , Robinson/Lafleur , Potvin/Bossy , Coffey/Gretzky . Butt he has Dry Saddle.

  7. i know that McDavid has a much smaller chance of winning the cup while playing on a Canadian Hockey team. (you cant tell me in 30 years no Canadian team could win the cup even once) but why does that mean we should still get some of the best players on the planet?

  8. only two years in his career have less the 100 points. 1 was his rookie year. 2 was the year the world stood still because of covid. and in both cases had he been able to play the entire season on both cases i don't think he would have a single season under 100 points.

  9. I recently have been reading a book called The McDavid effect and every time I open and close the book I am always left inspired and I don´t even watch hockey!

  10. Gretzky and Lemieux were infinitely superior. Hockey isn't just about skills, otherwise Alex Kovalev would have been a God. Young people don't understand the concept of hockey IQ, the sense of anticipation and the overall vision of the game. The gap between Gretzky and his peers was infinitely greater than that of McDavid with his contemporaries.

  11. According to my research: best of all time.

He only plays 22 min a game. Lemieux 1989 season played above 30 min/game. Same for Gretzky during the 80's.

  12. he is without a doubt the undeniable goat of modern era hockey. genuinely dont believe we'll see another like him

  13. McDavid is the Goat no doubt. The game itself is so much harder and tougher these days compared to Gretzky era so there' s not even a competition. Gretzky was the goat of a different sport.

  14. Nice document. But you really do not need any of these fancy cool effects, they are very distracting. WIth a good content such as this is, you do not need glitter, or just use it like a spice, just now and then.
