I’d rather othmann plays a full AHL season before being called up to the show. Just my opinion
NO! Let him have a full year or two down in Hartford, the Rangers are doing well right now.
Can’t be any worse than Wheeler
You gotta give him half the season, but I’d much rather see them call him up instead of trade or try to find somebody else. The AHL is not a developmental league. There is no reason why he cannot be on the NHL team.
The kid is ready has done good on every level. With that said bring him up if we need him not because he’s tearing up the league. Also use our ahl players and stop with the possibility of getting Duclair who is not a good two way player. The other person in talk and rumor Eberle is also has his name out there.STOP stay with the chemistry and stop the bullshit. If and only if we get some guys banged up and have to make a move don’t give away our good players in AHL.LGFR
I was thinking Othmann was always going to be a decent/good NHL player. After watching most of these past few Wolfpack games he could potentially be an elite player for the Rangers in a few years. Just constant growth and a style that’s like gold for teams. That “snarl” we don’t see much anymore is prominent in his play.
I wouldn’t. The rangers are playing too well. Let him cook in the AHL for a while.
I hope they call him up sometime in 2024.
Love that you did some Wolfpack talk today, Jon! Really need to go beyond the stat sheet, though. Belzille and Hollowell are stacking up points for sure. But the best player on the team all season has been Brodzinski. He’s earned the call up. The other forwards that are very noticeable and impactful when they’re on the ice are Berard, Sykora, and Rempe. Othmann’s been heating up recently. That wicked wrist shot is nhl ready, he’s a sneaky good passer, and seems to get a good hit on most shifts. But his defensive game is a work in progress and he still does a little too much floating. A full season in the ahl will be good for his development. Riley Nash and the guys I mentioned above probably higher in the pecking order for a call up right now.
As for the d-men…all are good ahl players. Hollowell and Brouillard are both skilled offensively, but I can’t see the offense translating enough at the nhl level to overcome defensive deficiencies. Scanlin and Robertson are the most steady pair defensively. But, again, just don’t see either as anything other than good AHL players.
Definitely a fun team to watch. A lot of guys contributing, good veteran leadership, and some exciting prospects. Glad I got the AHL package. I’ve been watching them a lot when not watching the big club.
If too many players get injured or are not playing well, he may be brought up.
