Short answer: No. Long answer: Hell nah
Stickhand is more of a left brain/right brain thing. Most people write with their right hand and most people who pick up a hockey stick will shoot right. However, at elite levels like the NHL, there are always more left handed shooters though most of those players write right handed.
Right handed defenseman are more coveted in the NHL because there are fewer of them and it’s easier to defend when your forehand stick faces the boards.
HARD NO
I disagree with Jesse, the return will go down if it gets public. And that's why another team might out it. They just might be interested.
They didn’t need Klingberg and they don’t need another version of him. They need 2 Tanev/Schenn/Lybuskin types
NO.
For the left/right thing – think about goalies – if you catch left, your goalie stick is used left handed. I’m right handed and shoot right so I suppose I’m an anomaly, but if I play next i shoot left, as I catch left
For handedness, I’ve heard over the years that lefties is more a Canadian thing cuz they’ll have kids pick up a broom and whatever comes naturally is their handedness on the ice. Playing right handed, to me, was an American “score more” mentality. Put the power hand on the bottom vs on top for control
If I had to choose between a run of the mill generic NHL defenseman or Tyson Barrie. I would much rather the player who's mastered their one thing, is bad at another, and decent at everything else. Every team and player across the league knows how to play against an Ethan Bear, not everybody knows how to play against Barrie. As long as you deploy him correctly he's a great asset.
does Barrie have defense play that Toronto is looking for?
Hell to the no! We need a Muzzin type defender but right-handed..
Listening to the left – right handed debate I write left hockey I shoot left baseball I hit left and throw with my right hand
Barrie's not the kind of d man we need.
No
Should have kept schenn regardless of price
Jesse is right. Or at least I've always heard the same thing. Stick handling is easier with your dominant hand on top and ig coaches felt like that was more important than the shot power gained by using your dominant hand lower on the stick or finishing forehand on a goalies glove side (glove being easier to score on generally).
I’m left handed. I shoot a basketball left handed. BUT … I catch left. Throw right and I’m a lefty on stick. Weird
Yes pls….😂
if you keep bringing up stupid topics im just gonna flag it as spam
We need defensive defence men could we use a D-man to be lead the PP yea but we don’t NEED IT
What was Tyson Barrie, when he was with the Leafs? Was he a big mean D-Man that could snuff out a cycle at will? Was he a puck-mover who could feed the forwards? Could he scare the opposition when they came near the goalie? If he was, why isn't he still with the Leafs.
As a kid playing travel hockey, I was right hander that was often asked to play the left side, because others struggled, which is double weird. In the D-Zone it was a benefit because my stick was to the outside when skating backward, but in the O-Zone you have to play the puck on the backhand, when it;s rung around the boards.
Definitely listen baked! I just happened to do so and now I’m down a rabbit hole of left vs right
