It's far from over, sure the 2 straight losses hurt but it doesn't end with that. Still more than half the season to go. Also a lot of good teams have lost 2 in a row or more, it happens just don't make a habit out of it.
Oilers 3rd and 2nd pairs are literally both top 10 in the ENTIRE LEAGUE in advanced stats. The defence isn't the problem. It has been and will always be the goaltending.
People emotion get stupid. Fear kicks in go full retard (tropic thunder) but they play like tampa and get ave goaltending 90.4 percent they win more games than they lose. .
778 spct in Tampa your chance of winning is like 2 percent. Not a good model for Tampa to go but u ride valsi.
. Skinner was even or ave hell just his .885 spct EDM wins like 85 percent of the time.
EDM is returning to base line of 11 percent shooting percentage. Last yr it was league best at 11.8 %. The start was like 6.8% it was well below even the NHL average of 10.2% . Lol
Pp is pretty much what to expect. Not as worry on the offensive side.
D zone coverage was a bit of an issue last game but overall been good with the new coach .
Key is pk an goaltending to get ave 90.4 %. Or better.
Skinners needs help or he will be overplayed n wear down.
Need a vet that can sub in 1 -4 games for Skinner . And can play 2-4 games in a row when Skinner is in a slump.
Pickard not sure he can do that.
Adin hill is pretty much playing every 2nd game with Logan Thompson.
A factor they went crazy last half , the pk was top 6 of last half of last season and the goaltender was around 91 percent spct .
Hence leading the best record in the 2nd half. Defensively they improved so much and it started with the pk. Esp after that crap kicking in la in Jan 2023 where they went 4/6 on the pp.
Shooting percentage and pp higher probability to maintain as more of track record and talent plus in their primes. Do need to add a top 6 RW but let's see what brown does after game 41. I like to see Lavoie get a chance but footspeed could be an issue in a top 6 role as a rookie.
Skinner can't have him playing like 21 of last 23 games last season down the stretch as a rookie into the playoffs. Now he is on pace for 64 games plus west travel .
Bedard has more goals than MCD…. MCD is on par for 34 goals this year… quite the decline from 64 though I think he will hit 40. Edmonton doesnt play well against the solid clubs…. they dominate the cushions but this team has gotta get different personnel. They get dictated to far too easily.

I consider tampa and florida elite teams , how many more elite teams do the oilers play ? they lose em all cause oilers are not elite themselves .. "missing playoffs" cause they can't beat elite teams ! done.
its not if they win or lose to me, losses are expected but when there's no effort shown or piss poor goaltending its extremely frustrating to watch
