Lucky it was Chicago, 3/4 points not bad for these b2b matinees
The fact that he takes responsibility saying things like "I need to figure out ways to get the team ready-" shows SOOO much to what a culture he's trying to build. Yes, the players need to be accountable but winning on a b2b and then taking accountability for him not getting them ready is really nice to see.
I watched Tocchet play growing up and knew he would bring success to the Canucks w/ his great experience and character.
Saying he has to think of differently ways to get the team ready even after a win shows how much he preaches accountability and that's just so refreshing for this team and I'm loving it. To be where we are now in the season is nothing short of impressive, if you were to tell anybody before the season started that we'd be a top 5 team in the nhl by christmas time, you would be sent to the funny farm for being delusional. So kudos to the organization and the team.
I feel like a bit of a schmuck. I hated the idea when the Canucks first went with Tocchet, wrongly thinking that, because he was such a gritty, fiery player, that he would be a one-dimensional rah-rah kind of coach. My bad.
He has proven to be a well-spoken, patient coach, seemingly adept at handling raw-boned veterans as well as using a balanced discipline/encouragement approach with the young guys.
It's a relief to have a coach that seems willing to be open about what's going on – or at least as much as he can.
So far, I'm impressed — WOO! That'll be a huge relief for the Canucks' brass!! — and I'm more than happy to be a schmuck for doubting Tocchet.
What's the name of that song played at the outro? It's got a decent vibe to it!
Want the team to have better jump in the first period? Give 'em all a nice shot of Espresso before game start. Nothing like a good coffee jolt before hitting the ice y'all.
