jack johnson has the greatest story of any boxer ever (including ali). the guy must of had balls of steel to have done what he done back in those days. he's a true american hero
the crazy thing about joe louis is that back in the 30's joe made america proud by beating max scheling for the world title. it was america vs germany and joe destroyed max and gave america major moral boost for just before the war starte. he also killed the myth of nazi supremacy too. however once the war ended the government harassed joe for illegal back taxes while coca cola (an american company) invested in max scheling making him a multi-millionaire. that's american gratitude for you.
Jack Johnson is one of my all time favorite fighters. I love the fact that he was a pioneer of his tactical style. I also love that he said fuck you to the establishment and did what he wanted to do. Only real complaint i can have of him is that he shoulda fought some of the top black fighters when he became the champ. I'm sure it was a combination of politics and his ego because he knew some of those guys were a serious threat to him. Anyways….great fighter. He NEEDS to be pardoned!!!
Yeah I seen a photo of Ray Robinson, Ray Leonard and Ali together, I thought it wasn't real at first because you never hear about the relationships these Legends had with each other
Read Jack Johnson and Sugar Ray Robinson biographies,they are worth reading.BTW Sugar Ray Robinson is actually not his real name,his real name is Walker Smith.The reason they called him Sugar Ray Robinson is because he was invited to participate in a boxing amateur tour program at the last minute and the team was about to leave and he needed a boxing ID and he did`nt have one so they gave him somebody else`s boxing ID and that ID was from a amateur boxer named Sugar Ray Robinson.Great vid BTW.
I saw that in Joe Louis' documentary, that was just sad man! And they showed how Ali called him an Uncle Tom because it seems like Joe just wanted to be accepted & loved by the American media. Instead he was just used & ridiculed!
