Is Kevin Cheveldayoff the GM of the Year?

The Winnipeg Jets are one of the hottest teams in the NHL this season. A large part of their success comes from the acquisitions made by GM Kevin Cheveldayoff. Trading Pierre Luc Dubois, and bringing in 3 players, headlined by Gabe Vilardi has gone a long way. However, that’s not all he’s done.

  1. I’ve always been a strong proponent of Chevy..he literally has the toughest job in the NHL as every player that has a no trade has Winnipeg on there list..yet he wins pretty much every trade he’s made..the Kane the copp n the Dubois trades have netted huge returns..only the Hayes trade was lame

  2. Have the Jets ever looked better than this? The second period of the Kings game is what really got me thinking we might have a contender here – what a comeback! The quality of our top three lines has been pure hell for opponents.

  3. Chevy better be looking over his shoulder when travelling in LA. He could be charged with Rape, Theft and Grand Larceny. I don't know what he fed Rob Blake before doing that deal, but WOW, did he fleece Blake.

  4. I got high hopes for this year’s deadline after the amazing past moves Chevy’s made.

Hopefully someone like Konecny or Kuzmenko, I got high hopes 🙏

  5. Agree with most of your points. I like Chevy's approach and his focus on depth. I would rather go into the playoffs with 6 guys who are 20 goal scorers rather than 2 guys who pot 40.

  6. I think we have to calm down a bit re: the Dubois trade. Dubois is having a down year so far, which is out of the ordinary. He is notoriously a streaky player. Not to say that that the trade wasn’t good for the Jets. At this point, it looks like a steal but let’s just wait until the season runs its course. Chevy made some great moves with the forward depth but we are also not playing Chisholm despite that he is clearly more valuable than Stanley.

  7. I have held faith in Chevy for years. Since the Kane trade and the many great draft picks, he earned my belief. His moves over the past year have been amazing!!
The LA trade was great. It really changed the look of the team. Now the Jets are among the deepest teams in the NHL and can absorb injuries and keep on winning.
Add in a very knowledgeable head coach and the Jets are focusing on defense and Scheifelle has turned into a solid 2 way center with renewed focus.

  8. I would take Vilardi over the last 2 games over both Dubois and Laine combined. The reason people didn’t see the Jets being good this year was because of overrating shit players. Laine and Dubois suck ass. Raw talent means nothing especially in the playoffs when there is no will to use it. The NHL needs to start paying players for work ethic and attitude rather than overhyped media bullshit. Laine and Dubois are absolutely overpaid and overrated and should be playing in the minors!

  9. Ehlers, Scheifele and Vilardi are clicking. To say the least. They've needed a big guy on the top line that can get in front of the net and collect rebounds in the worst way. And Vilardi is accomplishing that and more. I wanted them to put Lowry up on the first like sometimes. I know he plays a huge part cracking skulls on the third line, but sometimes without a big guy in front there's just nothing that they will be able to do. It's similar to how Mark Stone is used. He''s another brute that is used to net goals, and not just bowl people over. (it can be done)

  10. I am really glad that PLD deal worked greatly for us. I remember when he first declared he didn´t intend to stay in Winnipeg, it was crushing to me because I really liked his toughness and he looked like the future. The way we found to turn everything around is great.
