Edmonton want Samuel Montembault to replace Jack Campbell but the Habs just said sorry we keep him. Now it's between Primeau and Allen but Edmonton don't want neither. Jake Allen is a very good backup but too old and Primeau is not NHL ready yet he need more seasoning in the AHL but can not get to it because as soon he goes on waivers someone will pick him up.
So we are gonna play the musical chair till Jake Allen contract expired next year. Living us Montambault with Primeau as the Backup.
This doesn't guarantee Monty stays in MTL wouldn't a little bit of term make a more valuable return if he's traded?
I’m happy this is done too but they could still turn around and trade Monty. I don’t see Allen going anywhere anytime soon. I don’t think he has been playing well enough to be a trade target by anyone. And montreal would benefit by keeping Primeau. 33 year old Allen is the guy to trade but we won’t get much in return for him. I think they will still consider offers for Monty.
This is a good signing. It gives Dobes & Fowler time to get NHL ready
I don’t see Allen getting moved at trade deadline and if he is moved it will be sooner than later. I think if there are no takers for either Allen or Primeau then I think they will try and send Primeau down to Laval and if he doesn’t clear waivers then Allen obviously stays as the backup, at least until trade deadline or we trade for another goalie
