  1. dec 17th did you watch how vegas can play vs the sens last nite vegas ripped them apart The plays vegas created to get offence is unmatched

  2. They're a playoff contender right now, but not quite cup contender. Vegas is the benchmark. I'd argue their cup contention window will open when Lekkerimaki and Willander are ready to step in next year or the year after. With a couple more savvy trades, they could expedite the window as well.

  3. Next 2 years. Myers needs to go, cole needs to go replace them maybe one more good player to play with petty, give hoglander more time on the second line and maybe theyll be a contender when willander comes into the mix

  4. The real question we should be asking is, contention for what? What is the ceiling for this group, even if another D is added, presumably one that isn't ridiculously elite? If it's just the playoffs, been there, done that. I've been a fan since 1990. I'm tired of seeing the team get tossed in the 1st or 2nd round. There should be only one goal: The Stanley Cup. Obviously, there are stages in getting there and building that team, but if the entire end game is to make the playoffs and then see what happens, that's a low bar that I'm used to as a Canucks fan. How many teams that operate that way actually win? The Kings in the 2010s? Sometimes I think this team has been run for the most part since 1995 like an expansion team. Just getting to the playoffs is good enough. Obviously, they've only made it there once or twice in the last decade, but that's been the unattainable goal. Maybe forget about instant gratification that ends in failure, and focus on the long term goal of the Stanley Cup in Stanley Park. That's what championship teams do.

  5. At the beginning of the year Edmonton was a cup contender and favorite and Vancouver wern't going to make the playoffs. The so called exerts have no idea so these conversations about whatever team is a contender are rather pointless. Experts seem to be wrong on everything Canucks. Canucks and the players have proved everyone wrong and hopefully it continues into the playoffs.

  6. the window is now.. but you wonder.. at what point should you just say move on from a player while they have significant value. What you can get is picks, prospect(s)+ cap space.. look at Brock.. he's a winger approaching UFA.. if he gets a 50 goal season.. and starts wanting like 9mil cap hit.. we willing to trade early?
