Gotta See It: Domingue incensed that covering puck didn’t stop play

Watch as Arizona Coyotes goaltender Louis Domingue covers the puck to stop play but doesn’t get the whistle and the Washington Capitals score.

  1. Refs have been horrible this year. If I didn't know better I'd swear the NHL taught the NFL replacement refs how to skate.

  2. Caps fan here too. Goal should not have counted. Officiating has been worse than usual this year and Steve Dangle's video on officiating hit the nail right on the head. Nice to see Richie get his first goal with the team though.

  3. That's the biggest bullshit. He covered it. To any other goalie, the whistle would've fucking blown. I'm a Rangers fan, but this shit just pisses me off. I see so many early whistles, but of course, no whistle

  4. Did anyone see richards' deke on the pk in the second period? Haha holy fuckin shit it was dirrrrrtttyyy. I did not know he had that in him to be honest.

  5. He's got to be the most annoying goalie in the league. Whines and whines about everything. Looks at the ref for the call while the play is still going; worst thing you can do. Send him to the Penguins or the Habs.

  6. The only reason I think it wasn't blown was cause 12 had his stick on the puck under the glove. Domingue also let them score after

  7. Capitals fan here. This one is a really tough call. I think it counted as a goal only because the defenseman in Arizona had his stick between Dominiges glove.

  8. Weird play. I mean he had his glove over the puck but his defensemans stick was under his glove keeping him from physically touching the puck and freezing it. There was definitely daylight between his glove and the puck from the front view again because the defensemans stick was in the way. Now if the official could see that in the moment remains to be seen. He shoulda had the benifit of the doubt especially with no Caps in the immediate vicinity at first.

  9. NHL rules 2015-16 : "85.3 Puck Out of Sight – Should a scramble take place or a player
accidentally fall on the puck and the puck be out of sight of the Referee, he shall immediately blow his whistle and stop the play."
Having said that, I think the puck was still visible and not frozen in control of the defenders.
Having said that, I think it is a sorry statement of our times how professional "players" can act like little whiny babies instead of playing their game. Can you imagine a Gordy Howe of Bobby Orr throwing up their hands and ceasing their participation in the game because they didn't like the ref's non-call in the moment? Please. The defenders should have kept up their intensity and followed through on the play and then complained about shoddy officiating at the next stoppage in play, or in writing to the league. Players who stop playing because they think they know more than the ref ought to go become social justice lawyers.

  10. Everyone complaining about the goal lol stop show this to you kid and say you see what Wilson? He played to the whistle and went hard to the net text book

  11. So even when the goalie covers the puck a player can come and slam his stick on his glove to get it out ???
