Paul Merson was a great player but, as so many of them turn out to be, an utterly inept, clueless, rudimentary, knowledgeless clown when it comes to punditry. I mean, Sounness didn't cover himself in glory here either and displays similar traits but it's god awful. Talking about run-ins and nonsense like that without ever focusing on what actually happens on the pitch and giving a detailed tactical analysis and breakdown of football matches. Merson and his ilk (the likes of McManaman etc) literally don't have a clue what they are talking about. Their heated faut bluster (copying Keane) is about all they can muster.
